GT6000 - '93 or '94 w/Hydrostatic

Looking at buying one from the original owner. Has the 18hp Kohler Magnum w/Hydro & 44" deck. Drove pretty well, engine ran strong, no smoke,. Tranny pulled well w/no funny sounds. Lights don't work and starter seemed to periodically spin a bit before catching but fired right up. Also was a bit of play in the steering wheel but not too bad. It did turn tighter turning left than right, not sure why. I could probably get used to it but would still like to fix it. Tires are in great shape, seat has no cracks, deck has no rust etc. Looks like parts are readily available etc.

Any thoughts on this mower? I have less than a 1/3 acre but there is a slight slope. Was looking a new mowers but they don't seem as well made as this one. I realize I may need some parts here and there but the guy seemed to have taken good care of it.

We just bought a used 2002 gt 3000. 50" and 23 hp with hydro. Same as a husqvarna. Not sure about yous if it is a husqvarna. Ours is great and the price was more than right. Craftsmanship ar tighter to the left. Only pita us how to change the oil. Ours is miserable?

That is more than enough mower for what you want. Check the mowing deck for damage, play in the blade spindles etc. Some mowers turn left tighter to make trimming easier.

I don't have the hydro, mine has the 6 spd, but the Kohler has been a good engine. My starter spins sometimes and I take a stick or screwdriver and hold the top of the starter up to engage it. I also spray silicone or wd-40 on it to free it up. Always mean to fix it. As far as the steering, mine does turn smaller circles to the left than the right; but the bushings on the steering column do wear out and have to be replaced.
