GT3235 and Deck Downstop adjustment

Okay I am trying to figure out how this deck downstop works with no luck. The manual tells you to raise the deck all the way and then turn the knob counter-clockwise until it stops, lower the deck to desired height and then turn the height adjust know clockwise till it stops. Well I did the first two steps (raise deck and turn c-c) but the knob didn't stop turning - the Down stop assembly fell off!!!!! It came unscrewed from the knob. Can any of you Series 3000 users out there help?!?!?!?!?!

Now I also need to know how the downstop sits on the bolt.

I think I have the same system on my 3100. I have found it to be a little tricky to operate. I get the idea behind it, because the lift stop on my JD 112 operates almost the same way. You can only adjust the deck with the lift pressure taken off the adjusment stop. So..if the deck is all the way down, lift it about mid way, then you should be able to adjust the stop a couple of turns (I believe one full turn adjusts the deck 1/4 inch). Then lower the deck again and check the cut height. When you are turning the knob you don't see anything happening anywhere which makes you wonder if the stop is actually moving or not. It does work once you know how it operates. The easiest way to learn how it works is to shut off the tractor, lower the deck all the way and look under there while you turn the knob. That way, you can see how it works.

BTW Where did youget that diagram online? I would LOVE to get a PDF copy of a shop manual for my Tractor.
