GT235 Battery

Well my battery won't turn the engine and after charging all day it failed the load test down at Advance Auto. I am the second owner so I don't know the age - the thing could be the original I suppose. It's a "51"... 800 CCA. About $120 - $150 depending on Silver or Gold. Wow.

First question: Is that the battery I need for this tractor? According to the manual - yes.
Second: If it is, who offers a better price for a quality battery? Probably no one? The guy at Advance Auto said it was a Honda battery with John Deere on it.

You need only a 500CCA battery.

The engine on this tractor is only 570cc twin. I don't see why you would need such a heavy duty battery.

If I were in your shoes, I would head to both Costco and Walmart and compare prices on the "Group" size that fits in your battery tray and then buy the least expensive battery I could find.

Most places like Costco and walmart have good prices on lawn and garden tractor batteries.
Just be certain to buy one with 500 CCA or very close to it.
If you buy a cheap one with 270 CCA you will find it will not turn your engine over when it is hot
The manual I find on line says you need 500 CCA not 800. I dont think you can find a garden tractor battery with 800 CCA.
Some car sized batteries are not that powerful!
