GT1554 leaves a lot of grass laying

I have a GT1554 and it has always had an issue with leaving my yard looking like a hay field. I'm mowing every other day and the grass doesn't mulch up it just lays on top of the grass. Makes for a lot of raking. Are there any deck mods or replacement decks that would perform better?

until we get a bit further into the summer; current green grass is loaded with moisture making for tendency to clump during discharge. Going slow, taking > 1/3 grass height off per pass, even raising exhaust deflector a bit higher will help... along with keeping engine at full throttle. There may be a mulch kit available for your deck, but will also require slowing down. Check with yer Cub Dealer..
AFAIK, no other deck is made to fit your tractor. But, one can try a set of aftermarket Gator blades from Oregon Chain for possible help - if they make a set for your deck..

We are rolling into the "wet season" in Florida. My neighbor has a Zero turn of some sort, and it seems to leave no grass laying on top. Honestly, we have an acre of mowable lawn and we have to mow every other day.
Maybe I need to sell it and buy something better?

Hi Jeff did you try cleaning out from under the deck ...that will help disperse the cut grass more.

Well, a simple answer to that would be to see if yer neighbor would cut one of the areas on your lawn so you could compare apples to apples. ZTR's - particularly the commercial varieties - feature faster blade tip speeds and better cuttings dispersion... but, also pricey IMHO.
