Anyone have any commets on yanmar GT14? I know its was made for the US market, Are parts still availalbe for it? Whats a fair value for one in good condition at 595 hours?

Thanks.

Gary the GT14 is still in the Yanmar parts list, so I guess most parts are still available, but I have not ordered parts for a GT14 in several years.

Gary,

There is a local tractor dealer here that has several for sale and has one or two parts tractors. He is so high on everything that I have been scared to ask and he probably wouldn't give you the time of day anyway.

Where are you from?

I am currently restoring a GT14. I got mine very cheap, but cheap for a good reason... it was beat to death. I have found parts availability very very good. Most stuff is still available, and not really too expensive, with a few exceptions.

Problem areas appear to be the front PTO system, there were several late changes to it that only dealers know about. Gary Jamieson in PA has been very knowledgeable about that part. I'm a mechanical engineer, and started to rebuild the pto on mine, and got my butt kicked on it. If you go to buy a GT14 / YM146, make sure the PTO is in good shape, or factor some cost into your price for a rebuild. Parts for it are NOT cheap. Wear items appear to be priced higher than non-wear items. Small brackets and bolts, etc are cheap, while wear items like mower wheels are expensive. From what I've seen, the GT 14 is a well designed tractor, with a lot of nice features, except for the PTO. You get a real water pump, hydrostatic drive, electric pto, etc. Prices seem to run about $2500-3000 in decent shape. Perhaps a little more if you have the 3pt hitch or rear pto which were optional. Buy the manuals. Expensive but worth it. I can't imagine maintaining one of these without it or a knowledgable dealer nearby. I don't have a dealer near, so I had to buy manuals. Good luck.

Have you fixed your PTO problem or are you still looking? I could swing by the local dealer I mentioned earlier to see if the parts tractors still have it. Let me know; they are only a couple miles from the house, but he would probably want an arm and a leg for it. Don't know if you want to give up body parts for it /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif!

Yes, it's fixed. I sent it to Gary and had him rebuild it. He seems to be the expert on that PTO. (at least based on my experience)

If you do decide to swing by the dealer, ask him what he's getting for a crankshaft for the GT14. Mine's bent, and I need
to either replace or repair it. I can get it repaired for about $150, so if he'd be higher than that, not interested.

If I were a betting man; I would bet that he wants more than that (see previous thread). I will try to get by there tomorrow and ask. My wife has filled my social calender for today /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif!

The list price for the crankshaft is $ 701.69, but I don't think it's available anymore.
