I am looking at a GT 2100 to replace my 2185. I don't have a lot of lawn to cut, around 3/4 acre but a long asphalt driveway with some up and down. The driveway needs to be blown, not plowed. I have read the existing posts but I am looking for any new comments or some from owners with hours on their machines. I didn't see any posts from 1000 series owners snow blowing. A KW 1050 could be a cheaper option.

I would not go with a 1050KW after having a 2185, that would be going backwards. I think the GT2100 is pretty much like your 2185 just a few newer updates. Now would be the time to step up to a Sub Compact Tractor.

Thanks for your reply. The lawn mowing part isn't very demanding but the snow blowing can be. I have a guy that plows and I go back and blow the snow. Our property has a row of pines that prevents pushing the snow very deep. What would you recommend?

I would stay away from the 1000 series. I would at least go with a 2000 sereis and get a set of tire chains for it and put fluid in the tires. I don't like wheel weight cause they stick out in the way.

gladiater,

The problems you refer to are with the older machine like I had (2185) or the newer ones like I am looking at buying (GT2100)?

not a lot of diff between 2185,2518 or the new gt2100 that i can see,the only major diff between the 2185 to 2518 was the hood and a cast tranny in the 2500 series...save yourself a couple of grand and buy the gtx 1054 if the 54" fits your needs, heavier axle in this unit it has power steer but manual lift ,it has a belt drive instead of shaft drive....but you can buy a lot of belts for $2000 diff...lol
