Kubota BX2200 with 60" mid-mower deck and BX2750 front snowblower
Greetings, long time forum reader/lurker, just purchased a 600 hour Kubota BX2200 with the 60" deck and front snowblower for my 2 acre lawn and 135 foot driveway. Looking forward to using it soon but I had a few questions for the experts here. If the questions seem odd, I found it on line from Afghanistan, had someone look at it for me and bought it by phone, so I won't touch it for a few months yet. Price was right so I jumped.

No service records, but looks very well maintained. I do plan a full service on it ASAP. I think it includes front axle fluid change, engine oil and filter change, hydro fluid and filter change, fuel filters, greasing. Am I missing anything with that list? Are there service kits available thru the dealer or just get the pieces separately?
Any special tricks to servicing it?

I found on the Kubota online parts list there was a cruise control kit available. I ran some of the individual part numbers at messick's and they are still valid, but I can't find the part number for the whole kit. Any idea what it is and if it is still available? I am guessing it is cheaper as a kit then in pieces.

Finally, I found references to a service bulletin or 2 reading on TBN, any idea how to tell if it received the new airfilter bracket and what the fuel tank problem was?

Thank you in advance! Russ

Dear Sir: You stated that you purchased the tractor, sight unseen, from Afghanistan. You also stated that you had someone look at the tractor before you purchased it by phone. I am curious? Was the tractor previously owned by a Contractor working in Afghanistan? Is it a "Grey Market" tractor? Did the person that looked at it, actually see the tractor in person, and were they knowledgeable in regards to farm tractors? Did they start the tractor? Is a reputable transport Company being used? My advice is to obtain an "Operators Manual for that make and model. Then after receiving the machine, it would be in your best interests to have your local Kubota Dealer look over the tractor, or at least someone that is familiar with that make and model. I, personally, would never consider purchasing any tractor, sight unseen. Especially from another Country and when the Shipping would require two months allotted time. Just my thoughts. Best Wishes. BTW, Welcome aboard.

My first Kubota was a BX2200 and as JOHNTHOMAS says, it's a great little tractor, replaced mine with a BX2660; long story. I had no issues with mine, so I can't help you with the fuel tank. Take a picture of your air filter bracket and seat as improved units came out for these. I can't think of anything you missed on your service, at 800 I "think" you may need valves adjusted, but check your manual to be sure.

Sorry, I don't know anything about the cruise control.

Two good sources of information are Messick's and Barlows; both advertisers here who have helped a lot of members.

First of all stay safe over there!

I don't know about the cruise control question, it wasn't available when I bought my BX 2200 ten years ago. The air filter bracket has likely been replaced, it was a pretty common problem. Vibration just caused it to fail. Mine failed again as I suspect a lot of others did. It's being held in place right now with a bungie chord which has worked perfectly for over 5 years. The fuel tank issue as I recall was a sending unit problem but I honestly don't remember if it involved a leak. I had that done under warrantee as well. You could probably figure that if it wasn't done up to now it probably isn't causing any issues so I wouldn't be too concerned.

Just a note, these things shake something fierce at idle, so I never let mine idle except to shut down, I just bumped it up enough to smooth out.

Thanks all for the info. Yes, I am in Afghanistan, tractor is near home in Western New York. Has all three manuals, tractor, deck and blower. Always wanted a CUT or sub-CUT instead of a lawnmower and I figure the snowblower could always carry forward to a newer BX if I get lucky like Mr JohnThomas. Local kubota dealer is closer than green so I hope to open a good relationship for parts etc.

We went from a John Deere 425 to the BX2200 and you will love the improved performance of a good SCUT.

Congratulations on your new to you BX2200. On the cruise control kit, that is considered and accessory or option so if still available, you'd have to order it through a dealer's sales department, not parts. It's what's considered "wholegoods", which can only be ordered through sales. Good luck with it and stay safe over there, and thank you for your service.

Edit: found this in an old wholegoods cataloge someone post here years back. I'm sure the prices have gone up since then. So you'd need to order kit BX7340 to add cruise:

BX7340 Cruise Control Kit for BX1500, BX1800, $ 75.00
and BX2200 only

I've had several Kubotas. Couldn't tell you which ones had/have cruise control because I never/don't use them. If I had a long, long, long flat field I might but I don't so I don't. Sure there are cruise control lovers on here but I'm not one. Yes, several of mine has/had the little orange lever that pulls up for cruise.........I think that's what that is or maybe it's the lever down by the brake lock???? Cars and trucks have to have cruise but not MY tractors.:)
Use your tractor before buying more "stuff" is my advise and then decide what your short comings are and how best to fix them. It's all about YOU and what YOU want for your needs.
