not yet....
Hi All,
recently purchased a house with 3 acres of property. Being a DIYer my whole life I'm too old to change now. The property needs a lot of maintenance and landscaping and with my back the wheel barrow and spade isnt cutting it. Im in the market for a loader /backhoe, something on the smaller size (like a B series kuobta).
I'm finidng so much great information and advice digging through the forums I finally decided to join. Any suggestions on a good place to buy one used, preferable in need of repair?

Thank you for all the advice and knowledge provided by the members here.

George

Welcome from NW Florida. Don't have the FEL or Hoe, but I love my B7500. It takes time and luck to get a good price on used equipment. I lucked into my tractor for a song, relatively speaking. But I have been searching for a used RFM, and everyone I call about has just been sold.

Welcome fellow nutmegger!
I have fond memories of drinking cold beer on warm evenings, up in the grandstands, watching the modifieds race at the former fairgrounds.
John Rebillard, at Ruwett-Sibley in Torrington, was very helpful with my first tractor purchase.
R&S also has a place up to New Milford.

Thanks for the warm welcome and words of encouragement. Ive been watching CL but either the price seems very high or the hours are. I'm looking at any loader/buckets available though I think a Kubota L would be a wet dream.
Going to check out this one over the weekend... thoughts?

Thanks Baby Grand, I'll check out RS in New Milford this weekend.

Welcome from Torrington !! I don't know if it's anything you're interested in, but I'm thinking of getting the IH in my user info ready for sale this Fall. It's just been sitting since I bought the Kubota. Message me if you're interested and I can get ya more details.

Welcome from the CT shoreline. I have had decent luck putting an ad in Craigslist in the wanted area. If you think about it, if you are a seller, you usually hit ebay or Craigslist to find out what the stuff you are thinking of selling is worth. It has worked twice for me on my yanmar tractor and my 70 jeepster commando. Good luck

I came across a 1984 JCB 1400 Turbo loader/backhoe, its been sitting for about 5 years, has 4,200 hours on it, new tires (5 years old now but no wear), possibly a broken hose. I spoke to the owner, he purchased it, used it to build his new house, had plans to build another house but sold the land and no longer need this. Said it ran great, last time he tried to move it the reverse switch didnt work, and a hose leaked. He said he had a hard time starting it in the winter.
Claims he paid $14k originally and put another $6k into it, he wants $6k now. Would this be a good deal at $4k? I anticipate having to replace the hoses, fluids, filters, electronics...etc Is it fair to budget $2k for that?
What are your thoughts on price/miles/machinery?

thank you!
