y'all gonna think this is a dumb question (is it obvious that i am a little embarrassed to be asking?)but there seems to be 2 sizes of grease fittings...one is small and my grease gun handles it just fine. But theres a bigger size one that my grease gun doesn't fit. do i have to buy a different nozzle and if so why can't I find it anywhere? i have a cheapo hand crank gun that i put the bigger size cartridge in.

I didn't figure this out by myself - got it from others on this board. Most grease couplers / whatever you call the thing at the end of the hose on th gun are two parts. You can unscrew them to loosen them up This will increase the size of the hole allowing you to handle slightly larger fittings.

I keep mine loose so that I can hand tighten or hand loosen as necessary.

Before getting this tip from someone here I used ot have a heck of a time getting the gun off some grease nipples.

I had no idea.
I've been wrasslin' with that thing ever since I got my tractor.
Thanks, Canoe, for answering.
And thanks, Randy, for asking.
That's why I read TBN.

Hey that makes the two of us! I used to have the grease gun hanging of the grease nipple off the loader by the hose while I tried to figure out how to get it off.

You could also use the needle tips. I push the ball of the grease fitting in with mine and grease away. Never have to worry about the gun coming off the fitting.

I've gone back and forth between the needle tip and the regular tips. I find that I prefer the regular one for most stuff and the odd time for a stubborn fitting I switch over to the needle tip.

Worth having one of each on hand... or better yet two grease guns and one on each :)

I found a grease gun tip at Advanced auto parts that has only 3 grabbing leaf springs vs. the 4 grabbing leaf springs that my previous head had...night and day. I used to fight to get the old head off any grease fitting. With the new head I can pull it off with minimal effort. Changed my greasing life:)
