So it appears the my FEL uses black "grease" and my deck uses reddish "grease"... Is it safe to use the same on both? Or should they be different?

Your manual probably gives the specs for each one, but I suspect most guys just use the same high quality grease all around. I know I do. The main thing is to keep it greased. Most greased parts of the tractor do not move at high speeds like auto wheel bearings or something, but they do get some pretty high pressures between moving parts.

The manual says NLG-1 Lithium based for the loader zerks then for the tractor / mower it says "High-quality SAE" lubricant.

I'll contact the dealer.

Greas color means nothing, it's only a dye put in by the lubricants manufacturer. Grease is made in every color in of the rainbow. You might try checking out some of the grease threads in the Oils, Fuels and Lubricants section of TBN.

Are you sure it doesn't call for NGLI #2 grease. NGLI #1 seems a little thin for use on a loader.
