Kubota BX2370
Hi:

i am still pretty new to Kubota ownership. What is the difference between Polyurea multi-purpose grease and High Performance Construction Equipment grease? Which one to use where? Or does it make any difference ? I have a Kubota BX2370. Thanks.

Oooh, first reply! :)

Check out this link: The Skinny on Grease Compatibility

Grease compatibility can be a concern for things where the grease is trapped and will mix, like ball joints. Compatibility is outlined in the above site.

Most easy to get greases are lithium based, not polyurea, in my experience... It would figure that Kubota specifies a grease that seems not so common.

For metal on metal stuff, like loader pins, I'd just use the cheapest grease you can find that's got some Moly in it. The idea is to flush it out mostly with each greasing, so compatibility isn't really a concern, and the Moly helps prevent wear, while the lithium grease base keeps corrosion away. For trapped grease things, I'd use what the factory recommends, as that's what they probably used, and you don't really want to mix different types of greases.

Good luck!

for most applications on your tractor, use a good quality lithium-base grease, and optionally one fortified with moly and/or graphite. just stick with the same base type of grease from day one onward and you'll not run into any issues over the life of the tractor

e.g., use
SL319 -- Sta-Plex™ Extreme Pressure Premium Red Grease, 14 Wt Oz
or
http://www.crcindustries.com/ei/product_detail.aspx?id=SL3330

you can purchase both of the above at Walmart, Harbor Freight, and many auto parts stores. i use CRC STA-PLEX Premium Red Grease for practically everything tractor-related that needs grease; it makes my life simpler as i don't need to have several grease guns with different types of grease, and i never have to worry about incompatible greases either. so on my BX (bought new in 2010 with now about 500 hours on it) the FEL loader pins, the jackshaft U-joints, and the MMM spindles all get CRC STA-PLEX Premium Red Grease.

btw i use this grease gun,
Amazon.com: Lincoln Lubrication 1134 Heavy Duty Pistol Grip Grease Gun with Whip Hose and Rigid Pipe: Automotive

for certain applications, like the linkage bearings on my off road motorcycle, i use aluminum base grease from a small tub, since the aluminum base grease has such high water washout resistance (but in the other hand is not suitable for high speed bearings).

For my loader pins I use the Red-N-Tacky stuff, for everything else I use good bearing grease.
Two grease guns are a pain, but that's how I do it.
