What's with the discrepancies between the manual and my tractor?
For example,they show two zerks on the top link and mine doesn't have them. One on each ball joint on the steering arm. Not on mine. Do I have the wrong manual? Thanks,Tony

Kioti John can probably help you with the manual. He's has rewritten some of them for Kioti. My manual is the same way. I think we got the older manuals. Also, my CK30 has no zerks where you mentioned. Maybe prior years did. You'll also find some that aren't in the book. I had to give the tractor a good looking over. Checked everything that turned or moved. I should have written them down for myself and I could have given the list to you. I'll do it next time it gets greased. Maybe we can compare lists.

Unfortunately, some of the people who manage the making of the manuals skip a lot of steps, often using graphics of other models instead of creating new ones. I had nothing to do with changing any of the pictures, although I did, at times point out discrepancies. Sometimes it is difficult to convey to the Koreans the need to change things.
Just look around and make sure you're hitting all the zerks that ARE on the tractor. Go through the manual, find the ones that are correct, and make yourself a chart, adding some that may not be in the manual so that you're sure you get them all each time.

I think it's pretty pathetic that Kioti can't supply new owners with the proper manual. And what's with the elimination of several zerks?

Would be nice of those doing business in the US to grow accustomed to using an interpreter or people who are wholly familiar with US expectations of manuals.
Digested Korean just doesn't do it.
There is a great deal of information that should be included or explained in further detail in the owners manual.
I'd expect it to have been three times as thick!!
You just get the impression somebody from another language who completed an English course wrote it.
This is a serious peice of equipment needing detailed instruction to its use in the 'states English.

Tractors in general don't have specific model 'years' and at times there will be running changes/improvements. This can make it difficult to keep the manuals 100% accurate.

That's so true, Don. I think there are at least 3 versions of the CK25/30 manual so far, maybe more. I have no idea how many on the CK20. Every time a little change, improvement is made, a new manual can become necessary. But I do agree that the Konglish they're written in can be very hard to understand at times.
I would have done more of the rewrites, but they always wanted me to lower my price every time I gave a quote. This precluded me really making the major changes I wanted to make to include better information. I ended up making very little on the CK25/30 project as I added a section on HST and Shuttle use, and hundreds of words to the Index, which they LEFT OUT in the first printing because the man in charge didn't understand why we needed an expanded Index. I guess they're used to thumbing through every page to find what they want!

Arrrgh! Service manuals can be a pain to keep current. I have been involved in two different projects doing the tech writing for test equipment. Having this experience as well as my current experience with shop manuals for Japanese MC's and ATV's affords me the right to critisize ...BOTH ways. Kioti might do well to subcontract their service manuals to Helms Publications for their US audience. But their current effort is not too bad in my opinion. I just this week recieved my Kioti CK25/30 workshop manual and give it an overall "A" for use by the end user of the equipment who will be doing hir own repairs. There are deficiencies relating to detailed step by step diagnosis, disassembly, and repair, and the book lacks exploded views and wiring layouts. It does have excellent schematics for purposes of tracing a circuit and identifying components. I have a specific problem to diagnose on my CK 30 having to do with the hour meter. The manual is deficient on a systematic troubleshooting procedure, but there is sufficent information in the schematic to get me thru the project by reading between the lines. Ditto on the grammer mistakes throughout the book. BTW, the manual is VERY nicely done in a 3 ring binder with over 1.5 inches of pages divided into 10 chapters and cost only 20 bucks. It is up to the task of hard shop use by mechanics with greasy fingers! I pay 50 and up for MC/ATV manuals that are comparable. I will say that by comparison, the Kioti support material is up to par with their peers in the Asian machinery business.
I also think that the service centers may have yet a more detailed set of support materials that are not available to the end user...Any of you dealers out there to confirm this suspicion?

Wow! If you got it for 20 bucks you got a steal. That is WAY below dealer cost. We do use the same manuals that you can purchase, so we don't really have anything that the end user can not get.

Whats wrong with the hour meter---i heard some posts how theyre run related to engine rpm and some not and some peeps got the new rig with a connector unhooked... /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
