Case 530 (old!!)
I picked up an old Gravely two wheel tractor at an auction with a snow plow blade. I really would like to get a brush mower attachment for it to cut the ditch and around some seedlings I planted in the field. I see some on e-bay, but all auctions say "no shipping", plus the prices seem to go pretty high. any Suggestions on where to find one of these, preferably in WI, besides waiting to come across one in another auction?

Have you checked with a local Gravely dealer to see if they would have any used ones? You might also try Gravelyinfo.com to see if anyone has one. You will also be able to get lots of information on Gravely 2 and 4 wheel tractors.

I sold my Gravely with a brush mower and snow thrower about 5 years ago and still regret it. One place I see them occasionally is in the farm bureau newsletter. I would contact the local farm bureau and extension office to see if they have any kind of advertising columns. They also frequently know of other newsletters and magazines that carry that kind of stuff for sale. Take a look at Southern Illinois trader as an example of a rural online board that might have what you're looking for. I'm sure they have similar things up there for cheeseheads.

I sold mine to a guy who has a business in Chicago plowing snow. He was going to take my thrower off and use the blade like you have. That thrower would toss the snow over the top of the house. Those are awesome machines.

You won't regret having one! Those are a 30" heavy-duty bush hog with a blade about 3/8" thick that spins very fast and will annihilate anything that you can get under the deck! Keep watching e-bay, there are often really good prices, particularly for ones that look pretty rough. Even one in really rough condition usually only needs a new blade, new skids, and the bottom gear case seal. A new seal is optional if you just fill the case with grease. Parts are available at Richards (www.gravelyparts.com). I have one old "parts" deck that I'd consider selling, but shipping is a problem since they weigh about 100#!

Great mower deck, it will mow down just about anything you put under it, and will also do a nice job on the lawn. Try to get a 6 bolt housing right hand turn, better parts availability and less expensive also. I recently picked up one for 25 bucks, it's pretty beat up but has a good gearbox and I wanted the box for parts to fix a 40" deck. If all else fails post on the yahoo gravely site.

You are in luck...well sort of. There is a Gravely dealer that is in Wisconsin and is stocked full of used Gravely parts. They have tractors stacked up like cord wood. Every conceivable attachment. Unfortinatly, they know what the stuff sold for and are very expensive. They also don't like to sell used, instead prefering reconditioned. This kicks the price up even more. At least twice of anything that you'll see on ebay. The dealer is called Frank Gast and son (Frank died years ago and the son is now pretty long in tooth) and they are in Caledonia, Wisconsin. Give them a call. He loves to talk about Gravely's.

Ultimatly, keep watching ebay. Sooner or later a mower will come up that is local. Having used one of these 30" mowers I can attest to their effectivness. If you have one of the older tractors with the original Gravely engine, then the ballance will be ok. The later Kohler equiped models had the center of gravity just a little too far back. Trust me in that you can hurt your self pretty badly when the mower kicks up. Also be sure to get the chain guard. It really increases the safety of the mower. I can also attest that this mower does a excellent job with mowing seedlings so be careful. If you are looing to cut only a couple of times a year, the sickle mower may work better. The field doesn't look as nice, but the mower is wider and allows a greater ground speed when cutting the thick stuff.

I just purchased 7.6 Gravely walk behind two wheeled tractor. It came with a brush mower and sulky. Unfortunately the two part hitch for the sulky is missing. Does anyone know where a hitch can be obtained?
