I am trying to get a Gravely 5665 with the K301 engine started. It did not run when I bought it and I am going through things little by little. I think the solenoid is bad. The OEM replacement is $80.00 and that seems high to me. Anyone have suggestions for a substitute model number? Will any solenoid with I and S terminals work?

Well, I found a replacement that appears identical at the auto store. The brand is Standard and the part number is SS598. Also referenced is M19009. It is used in some Ford trucks.
I will report if it works!

Those solenoids can be a pain,,
sometimes, they live 6 months, sometimes they work forever,,
the Ford truck one is perfect,,

When I want one, I usually get it from eBay,,
