A couple weeks ago someone posted a question as to how to create a neat edge on a gravel driveway. It got me thinking and I think I came up with a rather inexpensive tool to do the job.
I already owned a 3 pt middle buster/spike tooth of which I purchased it for the spike tooth to loosen up soil prior to roto-tilling it. The middle buster blade was just laying around.
I took the middle buster blade and cut it in half affectively creating a minature moldboard plow. I welded a plate to the leading edge side to act as a cutting edge and dirt shield.
After a little practice, I was cutting some nice edges on my gravel driveway. Attached are five pictures; first two show my invention, third shows an adapter I built for my rear blade to control the backfill into the edge/trench I cut, fourth is my landscape rake rig I used to clean up, and last is a picture of the "after picture" of the driveway. Sorry, I didn't take a picture before hand, but needless to say it was pretty ragged.
First picture attached.
