Grass seed for pasture

Snow is finallyh melting and I will have to plant some grass. The pasture is shared by sheep and a horse and I have actually no clue what seed to use.

This is Northern Virginia, the dirt is kinda clayish. Thanks for any idea.

Have you tried looking at hancockseed.com the sell a variety of seeds for lawns and pastures.

You county agent can give this information....along w/ how/when to plant, how prep before planting etc. BTW youve already paid for this (via taxes) so might as well use it.

Absolutely correct. In addition to being good info that is already bought and paid for, it is good advice FROM SOMEONE WHO KNOWS YOUR GROWING AREA. County extention office will be familiar with your soil type, climate conditions, available rental equipment in the area, even who has the freshest seed. While you're in contact, get them in the loop with soil testing.
