Hi,
I'm purchasing a CUT this month.
Does anyone on the TBN community use the grass vac on a B series Kubota? I'm looking for some feedback on its performance. I've looked through the forums but can only find info on the BXs. It uses the bower/impeller off the rear pto where the B series runs off the mower deck.

Thanks for any input you have
Mike

I have the 3 bag bagger unit for my B7610.

Yes, it has the blower motor on the mowing deck, uses a shaft to connect to a "right angle" gear box which mounts on the right most pully on your deck. You need to remove the cover on that side of the deck to see it. The blower unit itself mounts with some bracketry to the deck via two pins, one in front of the discharge shute and one behind.

The bag is installed in sort of a bizarre way. It comes with 2 replacement 3 pt (lower) arms which are considerably shorter than the standard ones. You need these because the way the bag unit mounts to the rear of the tractor, the standard one would hit the bracket. (of course you need some sort of lift arms to raise the mowing deck)

The (rather heavy & large) bracket the holds the bags on the rear mounts to the rear ofthe tractor by the rear PTO. You remove 4 bolts and install the bracket with the 4 longer ones provided plus some 1 inch long "stand off " spacers. The unit that holds the bagger then slides into this bracket, and a pin holds it in place.

Install the bags (3) and the plastic shute to the blower motor, and you're done.

YES. It's kind of a pain to install that first time. (directions really suck!) BAD, bad, diagrams, hard to figure out which bolt goes where, and so on. But, once it's on, it can be removed in about 10 minutes. The shute slides off (just a giant rubber band holds that on), the rear bagging unit can be removed (without taking the bags off) by just releasing the pin (held by a cotter) and sliding the thing off the bracket by the PTO. And the blower comes off by pulling up on the rear pin (spring loaded), swinging the blower away from the deck and removing the front pin (cotter holds this in) The shaft will slide right out of that right angled rear box the the pully ofthe deck. The connector is NOT like the ujoint connector on the mower deck drive shaft. It doesn't have that collar thingy. Instead the shaft just slides in the spline and since the blower is held the place via the 2 pins to the deck, the shaft has no place to go.

The rear bracket can stay mounted next to the rear PTO. The right angle gear box can stay on the mower deck. Unless you need the rear 3PT hitch, the short lift arms can stay on also.

Two things I don't think were thought through fully in the R&D Dept.
1. Why the short lift arms? Couldn't the bags have just been mounted further back from the tractor, so that the standard arms cleared the bracket? Or some how just made a bracket to mount to the standard 3pt that held the bags?
2. To grease the right most pully, you need to remove the "right angle" gear box (4 bolts+loosen some bracket bolts) to access the grease nipple. Not a huge deal since I just usually grease it twice a year, one at the beginning of the season, and one in the fall.

After installed, it does work very well. Sucks up tall grass easily. (when I forget to mow for some time) Picks up grass cleanly, with only a slight amount of discharge from the left side of the deck. (Though my Scotts Rider I had from Home Depot, was much worst at this) It will pick up (and mulch) leaves (including oak & Catalpa) in the fall. The 3 bags seem to have a decent capacity. I can usually do my 1-1.25 acre yard without stopping to empty. (Unless the grass is very tall)

I've also found some tricks to mount/unmount the short 3pt arms with the standard ones quickly. I have no implements that use the rear PTO, so I keep that bracket on all the time.

Hope this was helpful. I could take a pic or 2 for clearification if you'd like.

Hey Wayne
Thats for the great review.
It sounds like its a real bear to install, but...
I'm not raking leaves anymore. So as long as it works well when its on. I'm in.
I'm purchasing a CUT hopefully within a month and am stuck between which machine to purchase. B7610 or TC24/26. So I'm asking the post members about how they like using the attachments which I'll be using. Hopefuly it'll help me decide.

On a different note, I saw in the tipping tractor post that your into lifted Toyota's, you wouldn't happen to be a Yankee Toy member would you.

Thanks again for the feedback,
Mike

Hi WayneW, I read your post and I would be interested to see some pics of your bagger. I don't have one yet, but I chose a 60" MMM for my B3030 to keep my options open to add a bagger one day... soon. I think Kubota is designing a new one and that's the main reason why I wait to see what's coming.

Thanks
