Howdy all,

I have a L2501 and have been researching grapples heavily. I came to the conclusion that I needed a EA 55 Inch Wicked Root Rake Grapple from everythingattachments. However when I called this afternoon they are telling me there is a 12 WEEK WAIT!!!!

I don't have that kind of time and would really appreciate some opinions on alternatives that you can actually buy today?

Hello and welcome to TBN and the forum. A suggestion - add your location to your viewer profile.

Check with your local Kubota dealer. They can provide Land Pride grapples. And perhaps others.

Check the internet for dealer in your area - call them - see what they have in stock or can obtain for you.

Google "grapples" to learn many of the brands available and discussed on other TBN threads. Enter "grapple" in Google Custom Search box - upper right hand corner of this page.

This is my Land Pride SGC 1560 grapple. Its considered a rock & root grapple - 60" wide - 820 pounds. Its controlled by a WR Long third function system - electric over hydraulic. Yes - it IS heavy and thats exactly what I wanted. With my FEL able to lift 4200 pound - out 12" beyond the lift pins - I'm able to take on a load of a bit over 3300 pounds. I've got 1550 pounds of Rim Guard in my rear tires and a 1050 pound Rhino rear blade on the 3-point and still need added ballast if I wanted to go up to the limit. I've lifted a LARGE pine log at 2850# and thats more than sufficient for any of my needs.

I've had and used this grapple for five years now and no log or large rock has even come close to causing damage to the grapple. Its good for back dragging - smoothing and leveling tilled areas.

Sorry guys, located in Akron Ohio.

With that kind of lead time I was just wondering if there was an industry shortage or if the Land pride models were junk?

We're just facing higher demand than ever could've imagined, but we're working on a remedy to more efficiently feed this Wicked Monster we've created.

People ask "why such long times?".
We're 30 some people with a huge lineup which goes way beyond the crazy popular Wicked Grapples.
The lasers(2 current) work all day and after hours to supply our welders for the next day. Our larger facility, which we're planning to move into later this summer, should quickly help us to reduce lead times because we'll have another laser(so, 3 total) and much more room for adding welders and other needed personnel. After the move, our final assembly and shipping dept will be alongside the manufacturing whereas we're 5 miles apart now. Efficiency will be magnified.

Our total build sheet hovers close to 600 lines long and about 100 are usually waiting on a Wicked 55 grapple at any given time!

We truly hate the lead times as much as you guys and we're incredibly blessed and thankful for all of the awesome customers who are willing and able to wait, however I do understand those who can't.
I hope this helps to explain.
Travis

if the Land pride models were junk?

I wouldn't go as far to call them "junk", but they just do not come close to a Wicked.

I put this together a while back and it's pretty relevant to your inquiry above:

The 55" Wicked Root Rake Grapple is absolutely the best grapple available for small compact and subcompact tractors. It takes lightweight grapple construction to the next level and maintains strength at the same time.
We don't just claim it to be strong, we tested it on our Kubota L6060(60hp tractor) and put it out there for the world to see!

For larger tractors, we've upped the game and created the Wicked 60 and Wicked 66, so I can recommend the most ideal grapple for subcompacts all the way up to 100 HP utility tractors!!

These are direct quotes only referring to our Wicked Grapple Rake. Some are from the EA Channel Facebook Group, some are from TBN and some are from email, so I'll leave all anonymous.
"Makes a world of difference! I'm so glad I got this grapple for my Kubota BX23s. It's been great at clearing the brush and prickers along my driveway and around the yard. This really adds a lot of versatility to my subcompact TLB. Quality build and easy to quickly get good results for a new owner like myself."
"I can't testify to the ability of the wicked grapple but what I can say for sure is that the smooth grapple tines on my landpride suck for holding stuff. Constantly dropping logs and boulders because of it. Should have bought a wicked grapple but for now mine will have to work. All that said, as soon as it's financially feasible a wicked grapple will be on my list of things to order to replace the landpride."
"really wish i did not already have the Landpride version EA is much better"
"I wish dealers could substitute attachments on new sales, but obviously Kubota dealers only use Landpride"
"Having teeth on this grapple blows the Landpride grapple away, not to mention the other improvements."
"Man I wish EA would have been building these things when I bought mine. They are somewhat setting a new standard for everyday use grapples."
"I have a smaller tractor, 26 HP Deere, this light Grapple has been ideal for removing brush and scouring out roots. Well put together."
"I put this on my JD 1025R and man, what a tool. It has taken the place of my bucket as the permanent fixture. I'm moving brush, rounds, logs and cleaning up in short order and with less back muscle. My best implement buy so far."
"Very excited just received my 55" Wicked Root Rake Grapple today! Have to say that I am very impressed with the level of detail on the unit from the tabbed and bolted cylinder pins, grease fittings and to top it all off they even installed Parker hoses with swivels on the lines at the tee's. Top shelf."
"Love my 55" its amazing what I am able to pick up with it. The other day I was able to unload a bunch of 6x6 timbers 3 at a time came down from the top and clamped all 3 at once. also works great for logs roots and using the lid to back drag and pick up the small stuff is great. "

The 55" is 209 pounds with the lower runners bolted in. Remove them and shave around 30 pounds if you want to.
It's all about versatility. The runners serve as depth gauges in hard soil if you want to limit how far down the AR400 serrated tines dig in. If you're in nice soil or using it for an application where depth is preferred, simply take them off and bury the tines 8+ inches.
You'll be amazed with your small tractor's pushing ability because of the dozer like geometry and strong, skinny design of the tines.

Compare this to a Land Pride!

CMYKPRO - I would imagine that most top of the line grapples - like EverythingAttachments - is in the same situation as Ted describes in his post #6. It simply THAT time of year.

Whatever you finally purchase - be certain it is exactly what you want and that it will do exactly what you want to do. By the time you have whatever activation system installed and purchase a grapple - - its going to be a major $$$$. This implement will be with you a LONG time.

At one point or other EVERYBODY has waited for exactly what they wanted. You would not be alone in this area. Don't compromise.

OP, just be aware of the weight of the grapple. The 60 inch Landpride mentioned above that weighs 820 lbs will only allow you to pick up a few branches.
80 percent of your lift capacity is used in the implement itself.

This is why a lot of folks wait for EA.
They have a good strength to weight ratio.

The 60 inch EA only weighs 400 lbs.

So just be aware of the weight when looking at other options.

wagne223 make an excellent point. No sense in the world to have the toughest grapple man can make if it takes all of the capacity of your FEL - just to lift the grapple.

That is exactly why I stated what my FEL can lift along with what the grapple weighs. The grapple I have simply is not made for a tractor the size of the OP's.

Like all other grapple manufacturers - Land Pride makes grapples of all sizes and types.

There simply is no way I would put a 400 pound grapple on my tractor.

I use Class 2 implements.
