Grapples seem to be popular, so I bought one too. MTL 66 inch

As popular as grapples seem to be, figured I better buy one too. I am just a weekender but I have lots use for a grapple, both at my little 2 acre patch of pine trees around my lake house and my hunting property I have leased, 5300 acres which seem to group up around itself.

I bought an MTL, 66 inch in black, $999 and free shipping. Best I can tell it tips the scales at 525-550 pounds. Not out of line from what I can tell, I have a new Mahindra 3550 HST. I've had it about a month or so. We seem to get along just fine.

I also ordered a Third function kit, bought it off ebay, Ag-States or someone like that. It looks to be the same kit that Bailey International sells, but 50 bucks cheaper. I may make a seperate post on mounting the third function valve. My Hydrolaulic lines are covered coming up through the bottom of the cab. Not sure where I will mount it. Would like to mount under the cab if I can.

Dealer showed me the power beyond port but I can't remember which one. May need to down load an owners manual to figure out power beyond port and return.

My plan will be to buy my hoses at TSC, if not lots of places in this part of the state that make hoses. I may even buy SS tubing to use along the FEL. I was an insturment fitter in my past life, younger constuction days before I got into sales. I still have tubing benders etc. SS tubing is not cheap and would have to be .o49 wall off the top of my head. The more I think about this, will probably go hose and not tubing, QD's at the FEL in the event has has to come off.

I just got a text, its supposed to ship out tomorrow. I bet It hits the shipping company in Beaumont, Tx where I am having it shipped to middle to end of next week.

I'm sure I will have questions about hooking up hoses to Power Beyond and QD's on the hoses. I know alot about pipe and tubing fittings, but not hoses etc. This is my first tractor.

I bought my Land Pride SCG1560 grapple and WR Long third function controls - four and a half years ago. The Kubota dealer installed and I've never put the bucket back on. With this grapple I have the ability to do all the project need on my 80. It's truly a multi-function implement. Expensive, but tough beyond belief. Land Pride SGC 1560 - 820 pounds - $3175 WR Long third function valve - $1195.

This is definitely an implement able to stand up to anything my 2009 Kubota M6040 is able to do. The other grapple that I considered was ANBO.

I chose Land Pride because I have several other LP implements and am aware of their quality - the grapple has not disappointed and the dealer came with a good, all inclusive price.

Great choice in implements, it will serve you well. Mine gets a great deal of use in all kinds of situations.

I received an email from the freight company an hr or two after I placed my order with copy of bill of
ladding, listed at 490 pounds. I thought it would weigh more than that for a 66 inch grapple, but it may not be accurate.

Hope I can get shook loose and pick it up when it comes in. I work in Houston, keep my tractor at my little lake house near lake Sam Rayburn. So it made sense to have it shipped to Beaumont, hope to get a few days off in the next week or two.

Be glad when my third function kit comes in, have to figure out the ports etc. Tried to down load an owners manual today but didn’t have my tractor serial number handy. Not sure the owners manual will be detailed enough to show ports for power beyond, return etc.

Kinda funny how a 62year old well traveled man can get so excited over a tractor.

Have had the grapple on my tractor more than my bucket. Grapple on the front, box blade on the back has been a pretty useful combo.

Two years ago I never would have thought to buy a grapple until one day I happened across one for sale on Craigslist and that got me thinking so off to YouTube and I quickly learned just how versitile they are and how perfect a grapple would fit into my tool arsenal. It didn't just become a want but a must-have. Of course after that I started reading up on them on TBN and researching what I wanted and the prices. I looked at no less than six different manufacturers and after studying the pros and cons of each one I'm now the proud owner of an EA Wicked Dual Lid 72" which weighs in at under 500 lbs and is very well built.

My third funtion kit came in, not sure when my grapple will come in. My guess latter this week. Between hunting, working and Christmas family stuff. It will probably be after the first of the year before I start installing my third funtion. I have some home work to do on installing third funtion components. May need to get a service manual if I can’t figure out power beyond, return etc. So far haven’t been able to find drawings for hydraulics etc. (Mahindra 3550) therefore the need for the service manual.
