On occasion here, I have seen a need for a grapple, and would like to think someday I might add one, but am wondering a few things.

First, I read a lot of guys here installing "remotes" and can only guess that means an extra quick connect either in the front or rear of the tractor.

Second, if I were to build a grapple, where would I tap into existing hydraulics to power it?

I assume you'd add and additional "joystic" to control it?

My 1010 has an FEL and 3pt hitch on the rear.

Also, can a larger (more flow?) hyd pump be installed on this tractor, to move the bucket a little faster, maybe?

I would go easy installing a grapple on that tractor. Remember any extra weight you add to the loader is less you can lift.

You could add another valve in series to your loader valve to control it, just need to find somewhere good to mount the valve.

You might be able to put a pump from one of the larger tractors in that series on, 1020-1030. I don't know if it would fit or be worth the hassel.

Yea nothing is super duty on this little guy, but sometime I move some long and unwieldy items and even a small grapple would make life easier in that aspect. The loader on this little beast would prob lift the tractor. I used it the other day to load some tree stumps and broken concrete into the back of my pickup to haul off, and the back end of the tractor seems a bit light.

I've picked up full scoops of gravel that did the same thing. I only moved those loads with the bucket CLOSE to the ground.

I'd only upgrade the pump if it was one that fit and was a GOOD deal.

As it is, looks like I get to split the little beast in half this winter and put in a new pressure plate and clutch. This one doesn't want to disengage any more. Those gears are only gonna take just so much grinding. I cannot afford a new tractor. If the tranny goes I am SOL.
