Went shopping for a Cargo van for grammie. She wanted a no-frills van to move our critters, get farm supplies, etc. She drove a new Ford Econoline, Chevy Express, and.. ended up liking the Nissan NV1500. It is white and pretty much bare bones. It has a power driver's seat and mirrors, bluetooth connection for her phone and a backup camera/radar. She had a Tahoe previously, but didn't like the On-Star, GPS, leather seats, etc.

She said she could see out of it better and it does have plenty of tie down hooks on the floors and walls. I have never owned a Nissan, but since I don't ask her what I want when I get a new vehicle, I figure she has the same right to get what she wants. I know it's a little late as she drove it home, but has anybody had any dealings with Nissan trucks, or this vehicle in particular? It is a 4.0L V6. She won't be carrying anything heavier than a Horse in it, but he is only 32" tall and 250 lbs. :D

You were right and smart to let her get the vehicle that meets her requirements.
Even though I have no experience with Nissan, other that hearing Bob Sharp talk about driving when I was a scout, I don't think you'll regret the choice.

I have a 08 Nissan Titan and so far so good. Its needed $45 in repairs total at 59,000 miles. Its a work horse and is fully loaded. Its primary job is a tow vehicle and it does that great pulling our 9,700# boat. Its even on its origiobal tires but will need replaced at 65,000. Priced them today, $1100 and change, ouch.

All in all it been troble free other than the $45 rear axle seal repair. I have owned about a dozen Fords, a Dodge, 5 GMs, a BMW, a Honda, and a Toyota and so far its the cheapest to own and operate truck when you look at tires, brakes, fuel, oil changes, initial cost, ect.

Thanks for the information Chris, as I'm going over it, I do believe it will be just what she needs. I'll let folks know what it is like after she puts some miles on it. That may be awhile though, as she may drive a total of 40 miles a week at most. After 40 + years with grammie, I can say she is awesome in almost every way... but scares the h3ll out of me when I'm the passenger. She would have loved Horse and Buggy as her main mode of transportation. :p

I, too, can't claim any personal experience, but one of my brothers-in-law used to drive Nissans from the little compact pickup to a sedan to a Titan. The only one of his that I ever drove was the Titan; nice truck. I don't believe I've even seen one of the NV1500 vans. But I'll bet she'll be happy with it. I kinda wonder how similar that 4.0L V-6 is to the one in my 2001 Ford Ranger pickup. With the same displacement, I know my little truck has all the power and acceleration it's ever needed. I've not pulled any heavy trailers, but have hauled ZTRs on a trailer and pullled a 17' bass boat and had to look in the rear view mirror to see if they were still there.

I have an old Nissan D21 pickup. 4 banger, and have towed with it. Great truck.

That 4.0L had a decent tow rating in the pickups, last I checked. Should have plenty of go, esp. for your relatively light application.

Those vans are getting a lot of attention here (Ontario, Canada) with the trades guys. One of my neighbours (HvAC guy) priced one out, fully equipped with commercial shelving. He seemed to think the price to be reasonable.

I'm sure you'll enjoy this van.

Around here (Ontario, Canada) we get the high roof version too.

It competes with the Daimler/Dodge Sprinter, profile wise.

I see them around here also. A large plumbing company has about 10 of them and the Blood Drive people use them with a Roof Top AC unit they can plug in.

Since I'd never even heard of the NV1500, I looked it up on the Internet and saw the pictures before I posted that, but as far a I know, I've never actually seen one. We have a pretty big Nissan dealer less than a mile from the house and they do show to have one in stock, but I haven't seen it.
