I am using a Land Plane !

Other than a quick once over to fill in some of the trenching from rain over the past weeks I decide not to drag the whole driveway.

I need material first, thinking on as was suggested in another Thread, to use 1.5"- as the base material.

So I have the name correct, now I just need to learn the best way to use it.

Thanks to al on the Proper Name thing, funny how we all use different names for the same thing... don't we all speak English ! LoL !

I have a lot better luck with mine on my roads than dirt like my drainfield. Maybe I am not patient enough.
I have over a mile of roads I have to maintain and it works great. I wanted to flatten out my side yard for my wife to play croquet so I rototilled my drainfield and did not like the results with my lpgs

This is what I went with and it makes the driveway laser perfect. I added a top n tilt and I can slope the road anyway I want.

You can never catch too much gravel like with a box scraper. I've used it to clear fields or brush and weeds etc.

This guys grandfather invented this equipment so I think he knows a thing or two.

can you adjust the height of your blades? For my final passes I raise the blades up high enough so nothing spills over the top of them. Most commercial versions don't let you raise the blades that high and once you've loosened up the gravel the blades dig too deep.

Do everything you can to get your drive setup like you want before you add loose gravel.

I took your advice... sort of... I did a pull on the back yard or the same reasons you did... just using the LP I got decent results but had a pile of dirt at one end.

It might work with a little less blade sticking under the edge.

Thanks

In my area I can get "road base" which is 1"+ with fines in it. It's what you want to use on roads.
I had a muddy section of road and was able to get a few inches of the road base gravel down. It wasn't pretty at first, but it wasn't slippery anymore. I drove on it and packed it in for a couple of months and once it dried a bit I was able to grade it out and make a nice bit or road. Now it's no problem with a bit of maintenance here and ther.

Thanks for the info, I was thinking 1.5"+/-, but didn't think of the fines.
I will check local Trucking Companies and see what they have.

I look ed at the DOMOr Product but found it to be too pricey for me.

Well built product.

I would like to get the Hydraulic Controls for the 3-Pt, contact the guy on this Site, (I lost all of my e-mail the other day so I don't have any names anymore), his price was around the $2600 mark for tilting both ways and three controls, two for the rear and one for the front.
The one thing I liked, I can remove the full package and mount it to another Tractor when I get rid of this little girl.
Something to think on and as cash come available I will see about buying the package.

Good work
I think it juist takes more patience than I have taken so far. Take your time and as you get a feel for it it will probably do a fine job
