My wife was mowing in a fairly strong wind last week, 25mph with gusts to 42mph. Wind was from the west, and one time when she turned east a wind gust flipped up the hood and snapped the meager mounting tabs. I ordered a new hood after finding Messick’s has 7 in stock. If they stock that many of a rather bulky item, those hinge points must be an issue. The hood itself is like $400 and by the time I add up all the decals, it’s nearly what I can buy a JD from Lowe’s. Anybody else have this problem and a solution? I’m thinking of adding a cable limiter but with my luck I’ll rig it so when closing it comes across the glow plug buss bar and short out the plugs, start a fire, and burn it taking the tractor, house, farm equipment, etc. hey, maybe that’s it - insurance pays and I can retire from my retirement job all due to a Kubota hood.
