I'm planning a modest FEL overhaul and I'm interested to know how pipe sizes fit into this. I'll be replacing my old, worn-out, and troublesome loader valve with a new joystick control. Most of the hoses still hold pressure, but are pretty ratty and some may not be the correct length given the different mounting requirements of the new valve. So I'm looking at new flex hoses. Currently the flexible and rigid lines are 1/4". I don't have any interest in changing out the rigid lines (running along the loader arms to within 12" of the cylinder connections). Does it make any sense to upsize the flex hoses that go between the valve and the fixed lines, or should I just use 1/4" all the way?

My inclination is to put 3/8" hoses from the valve to the rigid lines. Would 1/4", or 1/2" for that matter, really change performance at all?

Thanks

No you would not notice much if any difference in operation of the FEL with 3/8" or 1/2" lines being fed by 1/4" tube

It's actually the other way around - 3/8" or 1/2" lines feeding into 1/4". Basically it would get smaller as it gets closer to the cylinder. But I suspect in this case, the order doesn't really matter. There won't be much benefit.
