As far as the 1911...look for one on consignment at your local gunshops.

Second choice: My Glock 22C or my Glock 23 (.40 cal). There's a reason why 65-70%* of LE agencies across the U.S. use it.

*Latest number I could google up...not something I pulled up out of thin air.

Ya, it was pretty lame of me to be giving my reasons why I thought the .40 was "the best all around round" pretty much the entire country figured that one out. the remaining 30-35% of LE agency's not using them probably just can't afford them.

I have a Colt Series 80 Gold Cup National Match that I bought back in the early 80's. I shoot left handed and don't really like the safety features on that particular handgun.

Took my new GP100 out the other day. It shoots much better than I do The target is from 25 yards.

I think I will try bigger grips and the trigger is definitely Ruger

As far as a .45ACP wheelgun, if you handload you could always get some 45 AutoRim brass as well... Not sure, but you might even be able to find it as factory loaded ammo, but not at ChinaMart...

Are you referring to the fact that it is lacking an ambi safety?
