Well, I have to feed the horses tonight because the CFO is in Seattle at a hair show. Now I know style is important, but for me the difference between a good haircut and a bad one is two weeks. Nevertheless, she’s down there and I’m sure she’ll find something she needs…$$$.

Which brings me to my dilemma. Most of us spend $$$K to beautify, modify, landscape, and generally shape our homesteads but I’ve yet to see a show directed at the tractor hobbyist. I’m talking about someplace we can see all the latest attachments and equipment in a single venue.

I have been to sportsman’s shows, gun shows, boat shows and even electronics shows. It seems there is a show for almost every activity / profession one can think of. I suppose you could qualify the latest Con-Expo as an equipment show but only knowing someone who went there, I would have to say it’s geared towards the civil contractor.

So where is our hobby tractor show?
As consumers, we spend significant dollars (I’ll bet some have more in their equipment than in their cars…combined) but I don’t think we’ve been afforded due importance. I want a place I can walk in and watch an 8” limb get eaten by a chipper. I want to see a BIG screen video of a brambles being munched by a VenTrac. Show me how to angle my box blade, set the rippers, and put a crown in my driveway. Demonstrate, give a seminar, on the things we do at least on an annual basis. I would mention snow blowers but they wouldn’t sell very well where I’m living.

Of course the amount of testosterone present at this type of event would require a beer garden at the very least… /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

LarryD-
I'm there with you. Since you brought up the subject, you can host the first event. How many of you posters out there would be willing to travel to LarryD's place for the first annual Show Me Your CUT Show (no pun intended)? I'll even bring my barbeque.

OK Bonehead, you're on. I'm even gonna feed one of the horses extra grain tonight...bring a BIG grill. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Are you fattening up the horse for the bar b que?
There are several very large tractor/implement show around the country at various times of the year. I don't think they have much in the way of instructional seminars though. It would be a good idea.
I've talked to my dealer in the past about having some how to use a tractor sessions at his dealership. We may do it in the future, and I'll post about it on TBN if we do.

I've never had horsemeat, not that I know of anyway, but I am willing to try anything once. Won't the Mrs. wonder what happened to her pony?

Actually, three belong to Whatcom county...but don't get me started on that.

They won't put on much fat but a couple weeks graining sure sweetens the meat... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Then I would have to find another place to practice my tractor skills. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I wouldn't let my wife see the comments about eating her horse. I made the comment that at 90 cents a pound we would have$9000. She said something about how I could be replaced quite easily. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Larry,
My wife is going to that show today.....

I couldn't agree with you more. I keep seeing these posts from around the country where they have tractor shows. There is nothing like that here in the NW. I would think that this could really be an effective method of marketing for a dealer and consumer. Just think..... all those competing dealers under one roof.... that could get interesting /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif.

I know that my dealer is planning on moving to a larger, new location sometime soon. I hope they have set aside a large, outdoor "play" area. I subscribe to Rockler's woodworking emails. Every weekend they have workshops, showing how to use many of their tools. Think how effective that would be to have workshops on the weekends showing how to use all their different implements..... Dang I think we're on to something here. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Greg-
What dealer is that, may I ask? Where are you located? I'm looking to make the trek out to Issaquah somethime soon, if my wife and kids ever get over this cold. Any other Kubota dealers worth visiting?

That's the spot. Issaquah Honda Kubota. I deal with Mark Hovey. He's the sales manager. About 6 months ago he was telling me that they were moving east on I-90, someplace across from the highlands. I keep meaning to ask him more about it. I hope it's still in the works, because they are really getting cramped where they are.

As far as dealers, I visited several and Mark was by far the most helpful of any I visited. He was also competetively priced.
