Mornin Slacker,
I think I would just give the keys back to the bank if it was me :) :D

Reminds me of when my company was doing some work for a golf course. They requested we use their equipment, because of the turf tire configurations (ie less compaction than our rigs). So we did. They had a Gator 6x4 that one of our heavy equipment operators managed to roll down an embankment into a lake/pond. It was submerged by about two feet.

The Superintendent (ours) told him to go hook the chain so we could get it out. He said BLEEP andwalked off the job. Last time we saw him. Shame too, we recovered the vehicle and it had minimal damage.

YOu had to remind me didn't you? I was out cutting firewood last week. Finished the job and went to turn the PU around to leave. Now I haven't found that eye on the back of that rig but it has to be there. With lots of room to turn in, I managed to hit a rotted out stump hole just big enough to accept one wheel...all the way to the axle. Called AAA to find out that, no, they won't pay for a tow off the road. O.K. Called the tow company, how much could it be?...Aha, $154 for coming 14 miles and spending 2 minutes.

It wasn't until I got the bill that I added to the flat forehead I have developed over the years. In the PU I had 150 ft of cable in three sections, shackles, three snatch blocks, 2 log chains, a come-along and a good solid stump not 20 ft back of the rig. Did I think to use any of that? Of course not.

hi jack the truck up out of the hole, fill the holes with rocks/ tree limbs, lower the truck down, drive away - don't ask me how I got to know this but it was 20 years ago and involved my Dad's brand new Jeep CJ-5 Levis edition with a 302 V-8 stuck about 3 miles into the woods.

Slacker, That picture reminded me of when my county was putting a huge new culvert pipe under the road near where I live.

I came home too see they had parked there track loader near the spot they had been working through the day... Well that spot just so happens to have a little stream therefore it is soft soil, The next morning on my way out for work I see this track loader with only the very top of the tracks in front exposed and the rear was sunk in upto the top corner ... I fully expected to see it that afternoon to get my camera and post a picture here but it wasn't there anymore? Whether it had been pulled out or some how worked its self out I don't know.... but it seemed unlikely ... One thing is probably for sure, the operator caught a little greif for it

The fellow in the track hoe was close to needing a life jacket. Hopefully he wasn't in 'gator country.:)

Last weekend, I got my Kubota stuck in the creek. I backed up a tad too far trying to hog the bank. I was able to pull it out with my jeep. Don't think my jeep would be much help to this guy, but it is available if he wants to try.

Reminds me of some pictures my mother sent me after the town tried clearing off the resevoir for a winter festival. There was a little more expense than they had anticipated. A Deere backhoe was pushing the snow off the ice when it fell through. That wasn't quite bad enough. Someone thought that they could go retreive it by taking a large Deere tracked hoe onto the ice to pull out the smaller unit. Two stranded Deere was the result. The tracked hoe was able to be winched out by a large wrecker. As you can see the back hoe was a different story.
