Tractor
still looking
I was looking at either one. But I've read so much about the small B series, I'm wondering if I am getting too much tractor. I'm not in a rush to get things done, but I don't want to be disappointed with having to upgrade at some point down the road. I'm assuming a bigger tractor might retain its resale value better. But, a smaller tractor will get me in tighter places. A cab is important, yet it wasn't considered in the quotes below. I never gave much consideration to cabs until I sat in a MF 1635 later that day. :)
Then there's the issue of hauling it around in a dump trailer. I've been looking at the Hawke trailers. My truck won't accept 5th wheel so I'm limited to 10,000 lb towing capacity. I still have decisions to make on what I want the tractor to do

But... I'm wondering if TBN'ers could chime in on an opinion if either is a good buy or not.

You might look at Kioti as well. My DK40se has similar or higher specs and with a Woods BH90x total was about 28K as I recall. That was a couple of years ago but there are some incentives now that would probably get you the same final price. Tractor has been great. Loader is unbeatable and the Woods BH is sweet.

Edit: I missed that you were in Canada. Pricing is so much higher there I am not sure how to compare.

I did get pricing on the DK40SE HST from two different dealers. One price was $39500 the other was $42,200 and that was when the deals were on back in July. Prices included FEL and BH only. IN US dollars that's $37525 and $40,090 respectively using a 5% exchange rate.

It's great that you follow all the Kubota threads listed! Do you get spiffs from Kioti?

Art, that is rich coming from a Kubota dealer. You don't have any financial interest involved do you? And, no, I don't get any "spiffs". I am just a satisfied tractor owner who saved in total about ten thousand bucks by purchasing two more capable tractors from Kioti than what Kubota had to offer. CK20 over the B7510 and then the DK40se over the L3930. I gave each Kubota a hard look and liked them but did not see any advantage. Competition is a good thing.

By the way, I cruise the Kubota forum once or twice a month. I recall seeing you and another Kubota dealer cruising and commenting on other forums too. Since when have you regarded this site as your exclusive business tool?

Same situation here as IslandTractor. Looked hard at Kubota but I'm getting a Bobcat quote that is many G's less. And that's just straight forward quotes with no negotiating.

Those Canadian prices are scary even though the DK40se is more highly featured than the L4400 and more powerful than the L3540. Actually some Kioti dealers in the US try to charge list price too (especially the smaller mom and pop stores). Kioti doesn't compare so favorably when considering list price Kioti vs discounted Kubota. I'd go for Kubota in that case.

Not to steal the thread, I have been looking at Kubota for years after comparing NH and JD thought I was all settlled on the grand L3420. But I have looked at the Bobcat ( Kioti in white paint) prices are $3000 -5000 less for what I am comparing. Thoughts on bobcat? Seems most of the posts I have found people are happy with the cat lot's have gone with the CT230 or 235 model, I was looking more 235 or 335 maybe even 440 but that may be more than I need.
Thanks hope you find what you need.

Not stealing at all. If you look at my signature below I'm currently leaning towards the Bobcat CT335 as well. The difference in price is significant. I might just take the plunge next week. :)

At the risk of hurting Art's feelings, I can vouch for the new DK series from Kioti (I think the Bobcat equivalents are the 335 and the 440/445 series). The DK series is a more modern tractor than the CK series with electric PTO operation and ability to engage 4wd assist on the fly. I have a DK40se HST which has been excellent over the past two years and 180hrs.

Although otherwise identical to their Kioti twins, the Bobcat versions have a different loader which I know very little about. The Kioti KL401 loader on the 40 and 45hp models is best in class in terms of lift/breakout capacity. The KL351 loader on the DK35 is relatively mediocre in terms of capacity (rated more like a Kubota loader for that HP class) but works well from what I have learned on TBN. I think Bobcat contracts with one of the bigger US firms for loaders (?Rhino) and therefore they should be quality products too.

Not aware what u goona use the tractor for but from your avatar I will surmise you wiil be logging some ........then why a L 4400 HST, u can get a MX 5100 for about the same $...the front end and FEL bigger and sturdier. M 5040 much better if u can swing it money wise.

Look at JD economy utility serie too...nothing wrong with Kioti especially in some particular areas. But stick with Kubota if u can.

So you are saying you have an involvement with a dealer?
For me it's more a learning experience, more about the other brands and to help those that might be having problems in finding good information.
Some of our best customers are those that chose to save money the first time!

WTF? What exactly are you referring to in my post? I don't have any relationship with any dealer except as a customer.
