New Holland TC40DA w FEL
Gentlemen,
After reading several threads on TC35DA and TC40DA, I finally have decided to get the extra HP of the TC40DA. I would appreciate input on what add-ons, and options would be most beneficial to protect my investment from a sometimes careless operator. (me) The wife gave the go ahead tonight and my local dealer has two on his lot. Based on your collective experience, what would be the "Can't do without" add-ons and protection options? Thanks for a great site.

George

Congratulations on your purchase. For me, I would add-on the skidsteer QA system, front remotes w/ the switch in the joystick, filled tires, and rear remotes. (Same setup as I purchased on my TC45...)

Best of luck, and I'm sure some great folks will chime in.

Thanks for the welcome. Spent alot of hours evaluating the different brands and settled on NH. Great design and seemingly slight depreciation on name brand tractors over some others I have explored. Insights found here were very helpful.
Tires are filled with antifreeze by dealer on all FELs sold. Wondering if Grill guard would be a wise option. I may consider remotes at the rear in the future, but at present have no implement requiring it. I have a 1998 ASV HD4520 skid steer with root grapple, bucket, and fork lift. Used it to clear wooded area for more horse pasture. By the way, how or where do you add info into your profile. Right now it's pretty thin. I'm from Windsor, Va. and my name is a reference to being a retired Army musician who now has a horse farm.

The grill gaurd is needed if loading truck.s or wagon's it's not that much to buy one and they should add that with the loader but they don't.I think to change your info go to my home toward the top of the page .Thank's for your service for our country.

There is a link at the top of the page called "my home". You can follow the yellow brick road from there.

The grill guard is great, I've been advised to purchase, but have not done so. Have a few other things on the list first. Also, a toothbar for the bucket comes recommended by many...you may look into that as well.

Congrats George on getting the green light to purchase the TC40DA! Now the fun begins in accessorizing and procuring attachments down the road. I would certainly go for the grill guard right away. I was debating that option myself, but decided to put it on myself (easy) after the initial purchase and I'm happy that I did. You never know when you will be in a situation when a branch might snap back at the tractor or you are getting too close loading something up. It's just a relatively cheap insurance policy for that nice boomer front end and light assembly that I've been told is $$$ to replace. I'm not sure if you get into doing your own maintenance or not or if you are just interested in the more intricate details of your tractor, but I would recommend getting the parts (also online now) and service manuals for your tractor. They have been instrumental for me in diagnosing little glitches here and there over the years and I also generally find them interesting to read. If you are doing your own maintenance, I would also suggest that you always have an extra set of filters on hand, especially if you are doing quite a bit of cleanup work in the woods. It's rare, but it has happened before when traversing branches/sticks in the woods and you get one coming up under the tractor and it could puncture one of your filters. Just keep it in mind if you are a ways from home or your dealer and you are doing rough stuff in the woods. Just a few more things to ponder on top of the other great advice here. Have a good day. Matt.

1 Cutting Edge
2 FEL Hooks welded on
3 Rear Remotes
4 Rearblade
5 Grapple
6 Posthole digger
7 Wood Chipper
8 Middle Buster
9 Forklift FEL Attachment

OK maybe only items 1 to 3 -- I feel if you dont get the rear remotes now, you never will.

Thank you everyone who gave advice and welcomes. Feel like the NH is a great machine. Signed the paperwork this afternoon and it will be delivered tomorrow. Dealer is 25 miles away. It will be freshly washed, fuel tank filled, on hand demonstation and removal/install of FEL. He even took in my broken landscape rake in trade (200 bucks)for a new, heavy duty Bush hog brand rake. Only problem is it's not blue.
Dealer and his staff were there for the signing; felt like I was joining a family. Great feeling indeed. I'm just not familiar with what attachments require the rear remotes. The "dual power"on the joystick is slick and cruise control ain't bad either. The wife loves it (hydro) and was the one who wanted to up the power from a TC35 after reading some of the comments regarding HP/weight ratio. Thank you for your warm welcome to NH land.

Congrats on the new purchase and happy attachment shopping. Good choice on the 40 vs the 35 since the FEL will lift even more.
