Got my John Deere today

The smell of a new truck is nice but I prefer the shine of a new tractor. What I (finally) got today was a 3520, MFD, hydro, R4's, 72" MMM, 300X loader, forks and just for the heck of a new 5' shredder from my local farm store.

Your sig line answers your question! CVlean it up and give it a great wax job while it's new and it will look new for a long time. People still think my 2 year old one is brand new and the last good cleaning it got was right at delivery...

Oh yeah, if you get a good coat of wax on now. Just a blast with the hose and you're looking good as new.

Did you order your 3520? How long did it take? Did you get the new style R4's? I ordered the exact same tractor and it is supposed to be in any day now, but this is my third tractor and neither of the first two arrived on time. I would like to see pictures of a 3520 as well. Congrats

I just couldn't see how 7 horse is worth almost $2000.00 list price. Every quote I got was at least $1500 dollars more for the 3720. Its the same tractor with the addition of an intercooler and maybe some injection work. My dad owns a 955 and I have a good friend with a 4410. The 4410 has never had any power issues due to the fact that all these new tractors have at least a three range HST. If I have power issues, I have access to equipment that will make these things look toys. I wanted to go big enough to have the turbo, but didn't need the biggest. The 4720 is awesome and maybe I'll trade up someday. In three years, you know John Deere will come out with a thirty series, or some kind of improvement to the twenty series.

The dealer had the tractor and loader on the lot but it still took 6 weeks waiting for the 72"MMM. Everything else I ordered came in a few days. Since I needed my trade for mowing I had to wait for the deck. The tires are 6ply 15-19.5 (back), 25x8.50-14 (front). They were on the tractor. I have always had turf but the dealer made a strong sales pitch for these and I took them. The jury is still out on whether I like the R4's or not.
As far as posting pic's. If someone will post a link to a thread, instruction's or usefull site that tells how to properly do it I'll give it a try. When posting just asume I'm a tech. dummy and you won't be to far off the mark.

I picked the 3520 to run my tiller. Last year I found a Bush Hog 6' HD tiller in almost new condition for $600 ( a $3500 tiller new). My plan was to resell or trade for a 5' but I couldn't make a deal with anyone. According my JD dealer the spec's on a 6' JD tiller said the 3520 was as small as I could go. I think he was wrong. One of the first things I did was hook up the tiller and run it. The bare ground right now is like concrete do to a drought but it still chewed in 2" with no power loss. I then used the loader to knock down my dirt pile an try it there. On the second pass I was tilling the full tiller width and turning 12 plus inches of dirt. The tach dropped about 2500 rpm, but I still had more throttle left. Man that was impressive. Considering what I needed and how the 3520 is performing, a 3720 would have been overkill. Especially considering fuel prices and their likely increases.

The tractor run's the shredder just fine. I mowed 3-4 foot grass with some weeds mixed in at 2.5 mph and cut it to a height of 4". I would say if you're going to mow tall or thick stuff a 5' bush hog is as big as you can go. If you will be keeping the grass and weed's short, then I would buy a 6' shredder.

Thanks for the info. Lawnjocky. I will stay wiyh the 5' brushhog, for now. We only cut part of the property 2 to 3 times a year.
