We talked to Morton building about building a barn/shop on our property.
The building will be fully insulated to R19 walls and R35 ceiling, 5" concrete slab with rebar, fully lined inside with metal, two walk in door, two double pane window, drains for toilet, vanity and floor drain and roll up 12 X 11 garage door. 2' overhangs to match our house. We are responsible for site leveling, termite pretreatment, crushed limestone as base for slab, water, septic and electricity connections. All for about 66000 before winter building and cash discount equaling 15% or about 24/sqft.

I am in the midst of research for my 1st barn - I am not familiar with the economy in Iowa - that said; I don't know for sure. But it sounds a little expensive compared to the price(s) for slightly smaller structures around here. A 40x60 runs approx $35-$40k (without insulation) but with site leveling & base included.

Keep us informed. Definitely hope to hear more about your barn!

Get quotes from other qualified contractors. Why haven't you done this?
