Goose Neck Ball Rating?

A gooseneck ball rated for 12,000lbs would that be the total weight of the trailer and load?

That seems awful light weight for a GN ball. Are you sure its not a bumper pull ball? Most GN balls I have seen are 25K or higher.

I don't know what you are hooking it to but I would find one with a rating of at least 25K & I assume the ball you are looking at is chome? if so not a good idea go with a machined ball I know they will cost $50, but saftey is pricless.

Make sure it's an appropriate piece of equipment for the task. Most gooseneck trailers I've seen are rated for at least 12k, many are much higher.
