Ok, I just retired one more pair of work gloves as of this morning. AT this point I would pay good money for a solid, study pair or three that will really hold up and not break down so fast, but I can never find work gloves small enough for my hands! I've been buying SSG but they just don't hold up to what I inflict on them. I burn through about three pairs a year, usually wearing out the fingertips and thumb tip; or they come apart at the wrists and seams across the top of the hand.
I've had good luck with carhartt in the past although the women's small are pretty stiff; less flexibility in the fingers. The places I used to be able to get them nearby no longer have them, though. Online, all I can find is a version of them in a color called "vintage rose" (srsly? why does everything have to be pink??).
Surely there is some manufacturer out there who makes a good-quality small women's work glove?? I'm talking about real work gloves, not those ridiculous, bulky, poorly fitted things in the gardening store. I run power tools, tractors, throw hay, handle animals, build, move rock, fence, etc. - I'm not talking about gloves for trimming the hedges. My hands are too small to wear a men's small.
Thanks in advance!!!:)

Have you tried the cheap cloth gloves like they sell at Harbor Freight? They have them with re-enforced palms and they are very comfortable to wear while giving you a snug fit with decent protection. They have several styles and price ranges, but most come in 6-packs so you can just toss them and get a fresh pair as they begin to wear. You can buy pig-skin or deer-skin gloves also, but they run $10-$20 a pair and I don't call that a work glove. I had a friend who worked for Southern Pacific/Union Pacific railroad and he gave me a pair of their issued pig-skin gloves that fit and were tough, but I can't afford what they want to charge for that kind of glove in the stores. I'm sure the railroad bought 10s of thousands of pairs and therefore got a great deal. You'll never find that when buying one-sy two-sies.:(

My wife has hands about as big as mine. I got her some GEIER GLOVE CO. I picked up at a farm store in Colorado. They are nice. Rasping horse hooves they still get torn up but they still work.

I seen the small carhartt gloves @ bass pro last week-end in brown. My local farm store stopped selling the the small ones you are talking about cause their price doubled on them and they last a long time so they was not going to be making enough profit on them. They were about $15 a pair 2 years ago when they had them at bass pro this weekend they were $23.99.

First of all, :welcome:

Try searching online for your size in a pigskin leather. They're really tough. Also, horsehide is more durable than cowhide.

I lose my gloves too often to buy expensive ones. I often find them sooner or later, a little worse for the weather.

Have you tried Tractor Supply? At least you can try them on to see how they fit.

Good luck!

Hi Ms. AD,

Welcome to TBN!

I tend to wear through a couple of fingertips or blow out the seams of my work gloves long before the rest of the glove is worn out, so I'm always looking for tougher gloves.

I looked over the internet retailers for the Geier glove co., and they run anywhere from 30's on up, and they have elkskin glove that are "supposed to" last longer, however the elkskin gloves I have worn did not hold up much, if any better than steerhide or pigskin.

I have to second the recommendation for Duluth Trading, their products invariably wear longer and fit better than pretty anything else I have tried. Their women's pigskin gloves got good reviews but cost $35.

That said, my wife wears the blue and black mechanics gloves from Harbor Freight that run about $3.50 per pair on sale, and you can buy a lot of those for the prices of some of the more expensive gloves.

They don't last awfully long for me, but since I more than occasionally leave my gloves laying about, I don't want to spend more than $10.00 for ANY gloves, and make do with these.

Welcome again, and good luck!
Thomas
