Last week my old 1994 Chevy truck sprung a leak in the rad...rough roads and age finally took their toll on the plastic tanked aluminium rad and it started to p*ss out a fair amount of coolant. Put a new one in but I was still losing coolant!
Turns out the water pump started to leak and was soon leaking worse. Put a new one on today and fixed that problem. Darn bearing in it felt just great too, no roughness or noise or anything like that, just wouldn't hold coolant in!
Then while I had the hood open and was finishing up filling it with coolant (I'd just started the motor to get more air out of the system), the darn AC compressor started to make a racket when it cycled on...
Yep! A bearing went out in it as I stood there!. So it's unplug the power wire to it to stop it from cycling and it is one big fan belt idler now...have to fix it next spring when it warms up a bit.
Ain't I a luck sack!?
