Well.. got off work today.. it was a bit wet still at 5:30pm here in central fl.. Bahia is growing faster than the cow and horses can nock it down. lotsa black tops are up.. and the horses are avoiding it and grazing the heck out of the lower grass. I fired up the NH7610s and mowed about 2.5ac just to knock the tops off. then decided to fire up the old 8n and put some seed out on the back o fthe pasture in the bare spots that I had missed when I seeded earlier this week. Might as well take advantage of the rain.

Fed the chickens and pigs.. relocated a nest of mice from the pig feeder...

Cleaned up the wifes car battery terminals that got nice and white/pink fuzzy while she was away for a few weeks this summer.

I'm beat.. but it sure was a good way to unwind after getting home from the office!!

RAIN? I have to look that word up in the dictionary, been one hot dry summer in this part of the world. hit 94 deg today and that really is hot for this neck of the woods, and the strange thing is, it rained like heck 20 miles away, and not one drop here.

I'm surprised mice would even try to nest close to the pig feeder. My pigs would have rooted until they'd found it and then made a quick snack. Of course I probably have a different set-up. I also feed the pigs the off-fall from slaughtering the chickens so they have a taste for meat.

Frank,
Same here in my part of VA until Cindy dumped 2 and a half inches last week, we may have gotten a half inch the previous 7 weeks. I forgot how much I enjoy mowing. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

We FINALLY had a nice rain shower the other night (courtesy of Dennis). I couldn't sit on the porch as the wind was blowing in but I did pull up a chair in the garage and enjoy every minute of it. Almost seemed foreign having been so long since we've had any real rain /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Year before last was the same way.. coupled with a hard dry winter.. took it's toll on my pastures. last year was dry hear in florida.. save the 'hurricane' season... too much at one time.. should have bene spread out.

This year is ok.. seems to rain a bit each day.

I know what you mean ... I was outside for 20 years, in an office the last 10 so now I look forward to getting outside. The past couple of weeks I've been regrading my drive and trails. It's dry here as it should be and the clay is almost rock-hard. Chiseling bare clay and a mix of clay and gravel then smoothing and shaping at a crawl has been pretty straight forward and rewarding. It finally hit 100 on my back porch Tuesday so I figured I'd do some piddling in the shop till it cooled and the sun went behind the hill ... then I looked at the clock ... 4:30pm ... geez, that gives me 4 hours to burn diesel till I have to open a can of something for dinner, then crash. So, I enjoyed a nice dusty hot sweaty central California evening tearing the countryside up. Life is good.

Frank,
I know what you mean, no rain in the Rochester area either. I wanted to get the lawn in at our new house this spring but we did not get a tractor until the beginning of June, just in time for the heat. I am waiting until fall now in hopes of cooler and wetter weather.

We are getting some rain now. It has to rain, I just got a brush hog /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif Never fails, I have a new toy......er tool that I need some dry weather to use, at least to get to some of the areas I want to, and here comes the moisture. If I had run across the hog anytime last month I could have had pretty much everything I wanted beat down reduced to little green clumps.

But NOOOOOOOooooooooooooooo..............
