Price Check Good Price for B2910? What ABout L3010?

So, I have my search narrowed down to the B2910, NH TC29D or the JD 4200. Today I did my first pricing trip. I went to the the Kubota dealer that is only about 6 miles from where I live.

He quoted me a price of $17,900 for a new B2910 + loader. A quick look at list prices tells me that this is a pretty good deal. Am I right?

He was also trying to convince me to move up to an L3010. He said that he would give me L3010 (with its front end loader) for only $500 more. I hadn't looked at the L series at all. Should I consider it?

I was looking at a 2910 and ended up with the 3010 for exactly the same reason you are stating-$500.. I don't know how Kubota prices their tractors, but a 3010 should be several thousand dollars more because it is a completely different sized tractor. People will tell you that they love their 2910 but for the 500 difference in cost, a 3010 is lot more tractor. When i make a purchase of this magnitude, I try to buy the most I can for the money, in which i did in this case. You won't ever be unhappy with the 3010 having 15 acres to play on. The 3010 compares to a JD 4300 or a NH TC33D. I drove them all and am happy with my choice. Good luck.

Hook, I think you'd be happy with the B2910, but I'm afraid I'd have to agree with Bob; for $500 more I'd probably have to go with the L3010. And I guess prices have gone up in the last two years; haven't kept up with them, but that price on the B2910 w/loader (no other implement?) sounds about a thousand high to me.

The 3010 is a very popular machine but I am not a fan of it. I think it is underpowered, both engine-wise and hydraulically, for its large size. It is significanly physically larger than a TC33 and noticeably larger than a JD 4300. If I were to buy into the Grand L series I would go right to the 3710. Significantly more power and hydraulics with a smoother 4 cylinder engine.

If finish mowing and maneuvering (especially belly mowing) is the predominant use, I would prefer the 2910. If lifting/pulling/digging chores were predominant, I would want the 3710.

I think of the 2910 as a machine with which you would maintain an estate, and the Grand L as a contractor's daily working machine.

Hmmm ... I started all of this thinking that a BX2200 would be just fine for my needs. Now I'm looking at at an L3010. Well,things could be worse. I could still be living on 0.5 acres

Yes, I see I made a mistake in my math. 15% off list would be $1,000 less. But the L3010 would come down, also.

I'm off to look at JD & NH tomorrow.

Your quote on the 2910 seems high to me. I just received quotes on a 2910 and they were all at about $16,850 for ballasted R4s and FEL. I decided on a 3010 so I didn't negotiate any further on the 2910. The 3010 w/r4s , ballast and FEL came in at $17,700 for me in MI . Your dealer is more motivated to move the 3010 maybe. It is a more competitive qoute at $18,400. I would go for the 3010 for the small difference of $500 every thing else being equal. Steve Carver compares the 2910 to the 3010 on his 1st time buying tips and says"the 3010 will outpull, outload, outmow and will ride more comfortably than the 2910." I have to agree with his assessment.
