Hello:
I'm a new member to the TractorByNet and all forums for that matter. I want to maintain my JD 170 and because its so old less information is available for it. I know it was only produced between 89-90 it has a kawasaki engine and only a front PTO kit is/was available for it. Since i live in florida i don't plan on a snowblower any time soon maintaining it is my main concern. The deck was rusting out so I formed a sheetmetal section around the 4-6 inch missing part of the deck and drilled and screwed it on using 3m 5200 to prevent electrolysis and further rusting. A quick paintjob over the deck and it looks closer to new, at least from any distance not close up. I've run it for a month or two now and no problems with the fix. Its not spitting yard waste and rocks like it use to do. I would like an owners manual or service manual even a pdf but no luck sofar even from John Deere.
