My neighbor across the road got a lung transplant he was waiting for for some time. His lungs were scared and hardened most likely due to exposure to dust during his life time work at construction sites. The surgery went well and he is recovering nicely.
My other neighbor on the north side got killed few days ago during combine accident. I don't know what exactly happened if he got run over or caught up in the head. So be careful there during the farm work.

I do both farming and construction and they are incredibly dangerous. I have had a few concussions and broken bones. I try to be careful, but sometimes the low pay forces you to perform unsafe procedures to make money faster.

My neighbor is from hospital for some time. He was not much outside during the cold days though. So I saw him yesterday after long time. He is not on oxygen anymore, his skin looks healthy and he said he is gaining strength for spring work around the house.

Sorry about the neighbor. I am learning the value of a fully enclosed cab outside of the AC/heat.

The contractor that did my original septic work got killed at a very rural railroad crossing. The LEO said his dump truck, trailer & backhoe got drug a quarter of a mile.

The word was - he got hit because he was deaf. I just can't buy that. He was deaf, for sure, but not blind. I cross at this same crossing several times a year. It's out in wide open country. You can see the tracks, in both directions, for over a mile. He didn't drink or do drugs either. There must certainly be more to this story than is being told.

The truly strange thing - one of his sons got killed when the hydraulics failed and the FEL and bucket dropped on him. This was about two years after the son took over the business. He was doing repair work on something up front with the FEL and bucket raised.

People stand under loaders all the time. I think they are crazy. My ASV tracked steer had a loader safety arm attached on a pin that you could lower and put in place when working on it. It also served as a method load on a trailer so you could fit more on with it safely supported. I do not stand under any equipment without safety bracing in place. Even if it is a simple 4x4 post.

Outside of a massive failure that would be required for a sudden drop, I imagine an accidental tip of the loader control into float would be catastrophic. I am careful to use float when the loader only an inch or so off the ground.
