Well it has been about 2 years since I began researching and reading this forum. Tomorrow I am going spend some gas money and go looking in person at some tractors. Unfortunately I don't know exactly what I want yet. As far as brands I would say Mahindra is definately tops on the list followed by Kioti. As far as the Mahindras go I have narrowed it down to the 4035 (my dream tractor as well as the max my budget could handle) and the 3616. I know the 3616 would be fine and would do all I needed I am just getting sucked into the bigger better macho male thing with the 4035.

If anyone owns these two modes I like to hear you thoughts.

Dingo,

Welcome. I am waiting for my 4035 PST to get all set up at the dealer's now. I am hopeful to take delivery by the end of this week. I can't wait. I did plenty of research and had to drive the 4035 around at my dealer at least 5 or 6 seperate times. He was very patient. I worked out for him in the end.

I will update you when I finally get some real seat time.

Those were the two models I was looking at also. Ended up going with the 4035. It's just so much more substantial that the 3016.

I looked at Kioti's DK40 as well, which cost more, for a lesser machine in my opinion. My dealer in Richmond, VA is getting my 4035 HST now.

It all depends on what you want to do with it. I need to grade land, move round bales, and cut pastures. I need to pick up logs with the front loader.

In my opinion you should buy more machine than you think you need. Because you will need it.

Thanks for the input. I know the 3616 is more than what I need now, but who knows what the future holds. I would like to get bigger now and have it later if need be.

My initial jobs are tilling in about 8 acres of pasture to re-seed it. Some dirt work, snow removal, and w/ a grapple attachment firewood processing.

Would you all mind letting me know ballpark what you got for a price.

Hey all, I had a good day looking at tractors today. Unfortunately I believe Kioti has just passed Mahindra for my first choice. No fault of Mahindra but I just don't have a reliable dealer close to home. I live in Maine and the prices for all tractors seem to be higher than what most people on this site quote. I was interested in the 4035 HST w/FEL. I spoke with two small dealers and were quoted 27,000 and 26,500. I asked one of them if we could talk about prices widdling that down a bit. He told me the bs story that they really did not have any profit margins to work with in the smaller tractors lines. I asked him about filling the tires, bucket hook, etc. He stated he could maybe work with me on that. I left.

On my way home I stopped at a Kioti Dealer located 40mi from home. This is not that far for up here. Met an extremely intelligent manager there who answered all my questions. I asked him about the DK40SE. He advised me these models come with all the bells and whistles (rear work light, suspension seat, independent PTO, additional rear remote, etc) He also stated they will fill the tires, weld on a bucket hook, and install a grill guard all for 23,500. The DK40 seems to be very close in specs to the 4035. The Kioti parts and service will be more readily available as well. So at this time I believe I see a little orange in my future. Sorry Mahindra fans. If I lived in a different state were Mahindra is well established I would go for it but I think I need to pursue the Kioti.

Dingo - with 8 acres, you definitely have justification for a larger machine like the 4035 or the DK40SE. Like I said, I looked at both. The bells and whistles are comparable, but the 4035 was almost a thousand pounds heavier than the DK40SE. Horsepower without the weight to put it to the ground is really frustrating. You are just spinning your wheels (literally).

My dealer in Richmond, VA got me a great deal, much less than the Kioti dealer was asking. But, I think how you feel about the dealer is a good bit of what you should base your decision on.

Another thing, the Kioti did not have a cup holder!! WTF?

Good luck on your purchase. Oh...by the way...just made a deal on a 5035 HST with the loader which priced out well below what your Mahindra dealer quoted you on the 4035. Sounds like he certainly had a little more room in that quote he gave you.
