Hi All,

I recently upgraded my farm and will be moving about 35 miles East and now have a good JD dealer close by. I'm looking to add a new tractor to help with haying (round bales) and really like the comments on the 5603.

The initial quote is $41K with cab, loader, bobcat adapter, and two remotes. Not bad given that a new JX95 (which I'm also looking at) is around $43K.

Also, I noticed there was some talk about the 5x03 models going away, but when I asked the salesman said, no, that Deere is just going to "renumber everything" and they'll still be available going forward. Just FYI.

Any comments on the 5603 are appreciated.

Thanks!

The 03 series is nice, i currently own a 5103 since 2005. The only problem I had was here recently a valve in the hydraulic system stuck, causing the 3 pt to stick in the up position. Other than that, it has been great. The simplicity of this tractor, along with the open deck, was the major selling point.

The 5603 is a lot of tractor for the price. I think you'll be very happy with it.

Dealer is saying that the 522 loader is the best match for this tractor. Does that make sense? Seems I've seen some 5603s with the 542 loader instead.

If I'm not mistaken, they generally come with the 542 around here.

the brochure I have on the 5003 series says the 542 is standard on the 5603. Might want to point that fact out to your dealer, as it doesn't even show any options for another model of FEL for the 5603.

Tom,

I have the 5603 with Cab and the 542 FEL. I'm using an eight foot cutter and small round baler. I could have gotten away with a smaller model, but I'm very glad I went with the 5603. I bought on the assumption I may have more acreage in the future. This is a little bigger than I need now, but I may be glad I have it in a few years. And I'd bet they won't get any cheaper...

Really enjoying it so far...

What size baler are you running? I bet the 5603 doesn't even know it is back there.
