Did you all know Gary was on the road. I sent him a PM about a week ago and have not heard from him. Was going to be in his hometown and thought I would meet up with him. Go to his homepage, wow this guy must be having fun. Does anyone know when he will be home. I left a message in his live journal. You all should post one, mine can't be seen until Gary unblocks it.

Hi Murph! (and everyone else)

I sent you a PM in response to the one you sent me, but I'll post here also since you did.

Yeah, I've been off line since the 20th! /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif Boy, it's been tough. We moved out of our house on the 20th and we closed on it on the 23rd. We spent all the time in between cleaning, hauling, painting, etc. We're currently in an RV park just a few miles away from where our home was. We have some appointments and other things to do before we hit the road. We leave this Saturday and head east. We'll stop in Columbus, Ohio to visit our daughter for a few day, but we need to be in Medoc Mountain State Park in North Carolina by October 9th. We've volunteered to be camp hosts at the park from October 10th to November 10th. Should give us a good time to get used to our motorhome and figure out a lot of things.

We probably won't be back to this area until mid December when we come back to spend Christmas with jenny's folks. We'll be headed south and west right after Christmas. We'll be looking for some volunteer work (or even paid work) for a month or two in February and March. We're hoping to find something near where our son and grandaughter are in Nevada.

Hopefully I'll be able to meet up with TBN'ers all over the country as we travel around. That would be awesome! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Garry, we moved from the little mobile home we sold to the house we bought, also on the 20th (we had closed on the deal to buy the house on the 15th), and with this summer heat, I haven't worked so hard in years. The good news is that I've sweated off 15 pounds in the last 16 days. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

I can't remember whether I've mentioned it before or not, or whether you're already familiar with them, but if not, you might want to subscribe or check out Workamper News. We found a job working in an RV resort in Virginia Beach through that publication one summer, and then I found the job doing gas leakage surveys also in that publication.

Have fun on your travels.

Hi Bird!

Yeah, we know about Workamper. We joined last year so that we could start keeping our eye on things. I also check the on line version of Workamper whenever I can.

Boy, I can relate to that! Because of having to downsize as we did, we really couldn't have anyone helping us. I told Jenny a number of times over the last month and a half that when I get through just one day without having sweated through 3 changes of clothes, I'll know I'm finished! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif I didn't check on the actual number of pounds, but I know darn well that I lost a bunch. I put on a pair of jeans 2 nights ago and they slipped right down to the floor. Hope I can keep that going! /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Thanks Vin!

We're learning all about it, but we're having a blast. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Garry, your rig reminds me of Eddie Walker's Mom & Dad's motorhome, especially with the pop-outs. I bet you have a ball figuring out all the bells and whistles. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

When are you comin' thru Texas? /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

That is one very nice home. Enjoy! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hi Jim!

We're having a GREAT time getting into this lifestyle. We are learning a lot, especially the cost of maintaining the motorhome! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif Fortunately, we expected that so we planned fairly generously in our budget.

We'll be heading south after the first of the year. We're supposed to be in Arizona at the end of January. I'd like to head east from there and get into Texas for a short while, but Jenny wants to head west. I must admit that her idea has more logic to it, because we'd be going out to see our son and grandaughter. But we also have an aunt and uncle just outside Fort Worth. So we'll eventually get into Texas, but it may not be as soon as I'd like. I REALLY wanted to be the first TBN'er to visit Eddies's RV park. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Egon - Thanks for the nice comment. We're getting it into shape and livable. It's an interesting transition.

We had a motorhome a few years back when we were actively showing our Boxers. Quickly figured nout that you have all the problems of a house combined with all the problems with of a motor vehicle. Maintenance was expensive then and must be much more so now but it is a great way to travel and see the country.

Enjoy!!!
