Go Kimmie Meissner!

Although I realize this isn't very exciting to the majority on this board, I just want give a shout out for Kimmie and hopes she can bring home a medal from the Winter Olympics.

Kimmie Meissner is a 16 year-old Olympic figure skater who lives less than a mile from me and goes to the same high school as my daughter. She is currently in 5th place after the short program. The whole town has been buzzing since she qualified for the team.

She's a doll! And what a wonderful short program she performed last night. She's young, and I would love to see her earn a medal this time around. But there's no doubt that we'll be hearing from her for at least 2 more Olympics, and with much greater success each time.

I hope your community is planning a big welcome home party for her, regardless of whether she earns a medal or not. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Both her grandmothers live in out area and the local TV news station has had a crew at one of the homes while the performance goes on. They plan to do it again tomorrow night. It's a great human interest story.
