GM 6.6L Duramax Diesel

My 04 Dmax has been great. Had injectors replaced at about 110K, on the dealers $. When I bought it I was getting 20 to 21 easy not pulling and about 11 to 13 pulling 29' camper, 2 horse trailer with dressing room or tractor. changed tires and with the new diesel I don't get much better than about 18 or 19 wihen not towing. With Diesel fuel selling above gas it is hard to justify on mileage savings. However, If I got rid of it I would get another diesel for my pulling. I love the power.

I drive a Civic as my commuter to work. When I am home my wife and daughter still drive the Dmax. They love it. This is the second one we've had. I had an 01 and I made a mistake and bought without 4 wheel drive. I could not get off the road it seemed with out getting stuck, particularly with a trailer on the back. Too much weight in front and no drive wheels was bad combo. The 01 was great and would scat! We traded with about 80k miles on it for the 4wd unit and have been very pleased.

I have a 2003 C5500 with 170,000 miles. I wouldn't think twice about buying another duramax.

I have the motor with the internal injectors that are a problem. Warranty replaced the original set and I coughed up the nickels for the second set at about 165,000. It wasn't cheap, almost six thousand for eight new injectors and a new high pressure pump along with a new gauge package. But when I look at the job that's asked of the truck and the amount it has cost otherwise I'm way ahead of what my bud's SuperDutys are costing them over the same time and they don't have the Allison, a big big plus.

Empty I'm almost fifteen thousand pounds. I often grab a trailer and run high twenties and low thirties combination weight.

I love it.

I have owned 4 Duramax's. !st was a 3/4 ton 2001 model best 3/4 i have ever had. I had 2004 and a 2006 both dually's, both had the injector harness problem. Both times they left me stranded and when delivered to a dealer for repair I had to push the issue since there was no recall. (there should have been) Other than that they where good trucks.

I now have a 2007 dually, with 65,000 miles, not one issue to date.

I got the best mileage from the 3/4 ton at around 22 empty, 18 pulling, but lighter loads.

The dually's I averaged around 16 empty and 11-12 loaded. My trailer is a 30' Haul-mark with equipment in it and usually weighs in around 9-10500.

My Brother has 6 duramaxe's, ( family business) The worst problem we have had was employee abuse not the trucks.

We have used a couple of Powerstrokes, but the duramax seemed a lot better at pulling with the allison tranny and the ride in the chevy, to us, is far superior to Ford.
