.gif files converting to .jpg files

I use the TAPATALK app on my iPad most of the time to view TBN.

Since Apple's recent IOS update to 13.xx, all .gif files get converted to .jpg files when I try to insert them into a post.

Is anyone else seeing this issue?

I don’t know but I use the Tapatalk app also.

Lately it doesn’t allow me to post any photo that has been edited. eg: rotated, enhanced etc. on TBN.

Yet it allows me to post the same pic on other sites using the same app and device. (iPhone or iPad)

I'm communicating with Chris at Tapatalk about these issues and given him a link to this thread. Hopefully ... we can assist them with resolution.

Interesting - my browser (Firefox) sees them as a jpg but knows they were converted from a gif. It's not an issue for me, just strange. I don't know how you can prevent it or how you can fix it as I have not had much to do with Apple since the Apple II MANY years ago.

I’ve noticed when copying a gif from one iMessage to another the gif converts to jpg, but if I save the same gif to the device it saves as a gif and can then be inserted into another message as a gif.

I don't see your problem. You still retain the file in gif format. It just a quirk of the file transfer/loading procedure that does the conversion. On my big Canon camera I take/keep most all pictures in a raw format. That way when I'm finished "massaging" them - I can keep the final picture in whatever format I want. And I still have the original in its raw format.

If I download a .gif file to "photos" on my iPad or iPhone they now get converted to a .jpg file when I insert them into a post. Before IOS 13.xx they would transfer as a .gif file.

The Tapatalk app just added a "gif" button, at the bottom of a post being written or being edited that allows you to search and select .gif files. That works fine. But I still can't insert .gifs from my iPad "pictures".

That's "my problem" as you put it.

Sorry - I don't mean to upset anybody. I have two excellent software programs that allow me to modify photos. One - Movavi Photo Editor 5 - is particularly good at changing format.
