Getting Wifi to detached shop 120 feet from house?

My buddy has Comcast internet and wifi at his ex wife's house, he still pays. The parcel is split and his 40x60 shop is back and to the left of the house as your looking from the road.

The front of the shop is about 100 feet behind the back wall of the house and the shop is about 40 feet to the closest back corner of the house.

The internet wifi is not at all available from the Comcast thing, and he wants to put up Ring or similar wifi cameras that would alert him if someone broke in.

What can we do to supercharge the wifi and cover that building? It's not that far, so I'm thinking that there is some way to buy a better wifi box than the included Comcast one and magically cover that shop in internet.

Have any of you tried to get your internet to cover out over an added garage?

There are lots of long range antenna solutions on Amazon. Either a parabolic antenna on the house pointed at the garage, or two high power units or panel antennas should do your body just fine. In general 2.4GHz has better range, but with parabolic antennas, 5GHz works well, and has less interference.

Sounds like a mesh wifi setup is in your buddies future.

Google mesh wifi and you will get a ton of info.

Repeaters are another option but my experience with one to get a signal to my generator outside behind the house, they cut speed. Mine cut speed by half. That was OK for this application, but my recommendation for what is described above is go with a mesh setup.

Is asking the Ex to move her WiFi box or adding an extender to the nearest corner of her house an option? I have a good signal at 100 feet line of sight. Does the shop have metal siding?

Agree extenders are inexpensive and "should work" depending on the construction as Jetho points out.

We are on Comcast 200MBS service and have a house, garage and barn all wood frame construction - wifi is in the garage loft - distance to back of house 100' from garage and wifi router we get 30MBS, distance to barn 210' get 15-20MBS outside barn, a low signal inside but OK.

We are using a 3.0 cable modem, and a Netgear 1900AC router for 3 years, it replaced a older netgear router and extender setup in the house which worked but not as reliable as the new Netgear router.

My son built a "Pringles can" type antenna to get internet from my house to his house 500 feet away. It worked very well. Just Google "Pringles can internet".

I use a GL AR300 EXT travel router piggybacked on a ZTE Velocity on AT&T. I have everything on my home network connected to the little travel router including a wifi camera 400 ft from the house. I think I paid about$50 for the router.
