ok I know about how deep in water/mud I can go with a real excavator but I am renting a small one to clean out my lake front as I don't want a real one running across my brick drive and messing up the yard. beside a smaller one will work fine for what I need. Looking at a TB135 excavator if I have to get out in the mud/water a little and get it's feet wet how deep could one of these little ones go? one two foot maybe just covering the top of the tracks?

it's the same as a standard excavator - should be fine up to the bottom of the counter weight / engine...

be sure to grease it well afterwards to expel any water.

I would take out the insurance if I was taking a mini-ex 2' deep in the water. That's just me though.

When you start blowing bubbles, back up.

You should be able to operate it as long as the intake is above water. You could even go so far as to put a snorkel on it and operate in almost completely submerged. (I doubt the enclosed cab is water-tight though. Might make breathing difficult.) As long as you keep the engine running, it should keep the water out of the exhaust until you reach a point where the exhaust pressure is less than the water pressure and it stalls out. Of course your could snorkel the exhaust too and get greater operating depth.

The problems are that water will find its way into every vent and pressure relief valve, including the fuel tank, various lubrication ports, well, you get the idea.

Just like purchasing a flood zone tractor. You'll need to nearly completely disassemble it to clear out the water and debris before using it again.

I have s scuba set up for me so I would be ok for 30-45 mins at a time. but I am not sure the rental company would want me so far out they I risked water in the engine or adding snorkels and such to it. but I can picture that in my mind with the scuba tank on and only seeing the very top parts as you get deeper and deeper in the water. kind of like a bugs bunny cartoon

You may start off and feel like your on a nice hard bottom tracks covered with water. Then you'll start moving the slop, before you know it you'll find water is coming accross the floor and a good chance you'll be stuck in a nice slimmy muck hole.

If it has a place to put one on the undercarriage, believe I'd go ahead a find a suitable shackle, and put on it...

Been there, done that, with something a tad larger...
