I have a question regarding hydrolics on a Kubota GL5740. The dealer has installed rear remote valves and quick disconnects for me. He is telling me that one of those can serve the same purpose as a power beyond port simply by locking it all the way open.

The question is "Will I get the full Hydrolic flow from my pump if it is passng through a valve, or will there be a reduction in the flow rate?"

Thanks.

That would depend on the size of valve and the size of QC's used. IF they are large enough, then you should get full flow. Any restriction builds pressure, so if you have a pressure gauge early in your system near the pump output, you can see how much the pressure increases with flow/engine RPM for a particular valve and QC combination. Little or no pressure increase with RPM would indicate that the fluid is flowing thru the system relitively unrestricted.

Thanks Ron. That is very helpful.

Jerry:

Your dealer is correct. You can assume that since your tractor is
supplied with a detented remote valve that the engineers expected
it to accommodate continuous flow duty at the rated hyd pump
flow and pressure.

Now that said, I operate my Kioti's b/h that way, using my factory
remote valve in the detent position. I have also done it with
separate power beyond connection to the tractor hydraulic system,
and off the pwr byd connection from the loader valve. My current
setup does get the hyd fluid fairly hot when operating the hoe
continuously and any flow restrictions will contribute to fluid
heating. My feeling is that you will prob get less fluid heating at
full hyd pump flow using a hoe connection that does not go thru
the work circuits of any open center valve. The open center
passages thru a valve (remote or FEL) will prob be larger than the
work port passages and contribute less to heating. The fittings
are usually larger, too.

Bottom line: not gonna use a continuous flow implement? the
detent position is fine. Gonna use a continuous flow implement?
the detent position will work but may not be as good as connecting
to a pwr byd port.
