Iv herd of folks cutting a few coils out of the springs to get further tension... but that's a hear about kinda thing... the logic of it is sound though

That's what I figure to but right now i've got one original and one that broke anf modified. Hopefully i'll be able to get the scale on them so I can make them equal pressure on bale.

Update on everything I've found and fixed. Spring tension was very close as after measuring doing length was only about 1/2 inch difference. Main problem was found when having to remove some twine on the pressure roller and decided to remove some 20 year old twine wrapped around the last Chamber roller that meets the belts at the rear of the baler. What I found was the shaft that runs through the roller has 4 set bolts with jam nuts. All had backed out and the roller was free spinning. BTW this is a driven roller. After reassembly baler is working properly. Also learned that you can't Bale to dry of hay. Been doing some early morning baling while there is some due still on the hay. Finished 2nd cutting and over all did ok.

You should be able to roll dry hay really what you want to be rolling in the first place. What kind of grass is it? short and choppy or thick? Whats it doing when its dry? not feeding and starting well?

Bermuda mix. Some very fine stem. Grass is crackling dry. Grass feeds fine but won't start rolling. Have tried setting the pressure roller at different thicknesses as what the manual says. doing the baling in the morning baler hasn't missed a beat. Once temperature starts going up and grass starts drying out it gets progressively more difficult to get Bale to start.

BTW; failed to say that windrows are raked into a medium sized row.

Keep the updates coming. I just got a 605c and made my first bales. I broke a belt, and now I see that the belts are very short. Should be 440", is 411".
Mine starts bales ok, but I expected the worst, and don't know any better.

If you require your pressure roller recovered keep Red Rock Rubber in mind. $100 plus shipping and they usually can get it back to you in a week. Good luck on the baler. Overall I'm pleased with it I just wish it would create a better looking Bale.
