Ok, I am fairly new to hydraulics. I am planning on adding the auxiliary hyd kit to my 855. I have purchased parts 2, 4, 12, and 15. i did not buy items like 1 and 10. mainly because they seemed expensive (i.e. $16 for one of the elbow fittings). i figured i could buy them online from somewhere else cheaper. Now i am not sure this was a good idea. looking at the fittings through like surplus center they have things like JIC 4M TO SAE 4M LONG 90 ELBOW. I understand what it all means, but i won't know what i need until i take everything apart. does jd use pretty much a standard size/style or can anyone tell from the picture what i need? It also looks like there are different types of quick couplers. I would like to use the same ones that are currently on the front loader. can anyone give advice on which couplers i need.
thanks
jason

Unfortunately, there is NO "standard. My 4110 (built by Yanmar in Japan) has some NPT,JIC, Banjo, and even some BSPP.

JD use Pioneer QD's now...probably the same on your machine. For the Power Beyond loop like you are adding they use one size bigger because of the constant flow through them-My FEL has 1/4" QD's but the PB loop uses 3/8".

Part #10 is a special bulkhead fitting...Do you have a local hydraulic shop you can go to?

I am not sure if i there is a shop around or not. i do know of a auto repair shop that sells Montana tractors. they said they can make custom hoses, but i don't know what kind of couplers they would have. would i be better off just using hose instead of the hard lines? that way i can buy pretty much whatever connectors i want?
thanks

Mine is all plumbed with hoses, as are most of the newer small tractors. You already bought the hardlines though didn't you?

i sure did. i may be able to return them. I think they cost like 40 for both. But even if i can't, if i don't have to find "special parts" and it is easier to change the system later (add valves), i don't mind eating the cost of these lines. It might still end up being cheaper for the whole cost because of the special parts i still need.

Part 10 looks like a quick disconnect, not a bulkhead fitting

ok, i got everything apart and got the diverter plug installed. i have pulled the two plugs where the 90 degree connectors will go and i have a few questions?

the plugs have the o-ring on them just under the hex head. is this what the call o-ring face seal?

the plugs are squared off, but in the whole there is a bevel, does this mean i should use the JIC style? the bevel is fairly deap in the whole.

possibly most import what size is it? it is just smaller than 3/8 nptf and just bigger than 1/4 nptf. is this SAE 5? seams like an odd size.

off topic a little, since the 90 are around 3/8 and my log splitter that i will be using this for has 1/2 hoses. what will the affect of this be?

thanks

OK Jason, I will do my best to help...

I don't think it's ORFC, probably is ORB-look at THIS page.

Is there a chamfer around the top to accept a O-ring? I doubt you need JIC here.

Once you figure out what type it is-then use THIS chart to determine size.

None at all.
