At the begging of last summer when I was taking the blades off to sharpen them I let the deck slip as I was turning it back over. This means the deck came down on the gear box. At the time, I looked it over and I couldn稚 find anything broke/leaking except for the gear box lid scuffed up. As the summer went on I could see that it was leaking oil. I took the gear box off the deck this weekend and it appears that the bottom seal is leaking. Is this something that I can replace or is this something for the dealer. I called a few minutes ago and asked what the cost would be to replace the seals. The sales guy said $75/hr plus parts. I asked how long it was supposed to take and he said they don稚 have any book to go by, they just work on it.
Does anyone have experience replacing the seals in a mowing deck痴 gear box? If you have had the dealer do it, how much did it cost? I found one person online that had theirs replaced on an older gear box and it was $130 (parts&labor).
